THEE OH SEES IN CONCERT:

San Francisco psych rock outfit Thee Oh Sees has been blowing minds with their kaleidoscopic sound and freaky-fun performances since their formation in 1997. At their live shows the band's '60s-inspired guitar riffs, swirling vocals, and charging drums make for a truly transformative experience, treating concertgoers to a psychedelic blast from the past without any need for a time machine. Whether they're rocking out to the infectiously catchy "Robber Barons" or reveling in the fuzzed-out bliss of "Toe Cutter - Thumb Buster", Thee Oh Sees always treat fans to an electric and unforgettable concert experience of hallucinatory proportions.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Thee Oh Sees first took shape in 1997 as the experimental home recording project of San Francisco-based songwriter John Dwyer. Working solo under the moniker Orinoka Crash Suite, Dwyer appeared on several compilations before releasing three full-length albums -- simply titled 1, 2, and 3 -- in the early '00s. Around the middle of the decade the project evolved from Dwyers solo outlet to a full-fledged band as percussionist Patrick Mullins and vocalist/keyboardist Brigid Dawson joined the fray. The trio renamed themselves The Oh Sees and made their debut in 2006 with the album Cool Death of Island Raiders. They followed up in 2007 with Sucks Blood, which boasted a more garage rock-influenced sound thanks to the addition of bassist Petey Dammit. After adding an "e" to their name the quartet made their debut as Thee Oh Sees in 2008 with the album The Master's Bedroom Is Worth Spending a Night In, a critically acclaimed release that showcased an increasingly psychedelic sound and ushered in a period of intense creativity for the band. The ever-prolific group released seven albums over the next five years including 2014's Drop, another critically acclaimed slice of psychedelia that the band supported with a string of US tour dates. Electrifying performers with an eccentric sound, Thee Oh Sees continue to conjure up the consciousness-expanding sounds of musical eras past on their unforgettable tours.

The music never let up. Friendly, people in the audience. Osees really connect well their fans when performing. Easily the best concert I’ve been to.

    Well.....

by Potato Headed Bobby on 2022-09-22The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Love the band. Really love the band. They were tight. But....the sound quality was meh. The Danforth Music Hall is a bit on the crappy side for sound quality so it muddied the performance. The band played their set and left. That's it, that's all folks. No encore. C'est la vie I suppose and they did play hard so it is what it is I suppose. Would still see them again. The staff hurried everyone out at the end - many still with their (expensive!) beers in hand. Weird and not really great. I don't love this venue TBH.

    High Energy Performance

by Kelly667 on 2022-09-22The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

We had such a fun, memorable night. Amazing set! The crowd went wild, but never violent. Saw some crowd surfing for the first time in a long time, and hardly anyone was on their phones. The band sounded awesome and the drummers must be the most hard working in the industry. The whole band has such high energy and you can tell they care about putting on a good show for their fans. We briefly met the singer at a nearby record shop before the show. He seemed like a down-to-earth guy - very pleasant demeanor. I liked the vaulted floors of the Danforth Music Hall - made it easier to see around people taller than me.

    An Excellent experience!

by Ageons on 2019-10-17The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

The opener "Prettiest Eyes" was a great companion to the main event, in sound, stage presence and technique. Oh Sees was every bit as good as I expected. John Dwyer put out a great performance and his band mates all killed it in sound, stage presence, performance. I loved the setlist. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

    Pure Bliss

by NeoPsych19 on 2019-10-17The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Oh Sees and their opening act, Prettiest Eyes put on an amazing show. Oh Sees were their usual high energy selves and their sound was much better than the last time at the Danforth. I look forward to seeing them the next time they come back.

CA USA grunge jam rock comes to TO CA

by Avalon58 on 2018-10-17The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I was invited to this concert by a friend. I have never heard of this band, so I decided to look up a few videos on YouTube. I cringed a bit, and asked my friend why would I want to go see these guys? Anyway, put on my game face, and in true concert trouper fashion went to the show. The 3 piece band I saw in the videos had become a 6 piece band, complete with 2 drummers who's sparse kits were set up side by side, at the very front of the stage. These guys were tight! Pleasantly surprised, and glad I went.
