About

Formed in 1998 by Jared Leto and his older brother Shannon, Thirty Seconds to Mars found success in the ‘00s with a blend of hard rock, post-grunge and screamo. Drawing on influences ranging from Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Rush, the band have enjoyed global success with platinum-selling albums, world tours and numerous music awards. Frontman and actor Jared Leto enjoyed success on the ‘90s television drama My So Called Life in addition to movies such as Fight Club and Requiem for a Dream. As he approached his 30s, he decided to focus on his music and enlisted the help of his brother to form Thirty Seconds to Mars. While music is his passion, Jared continues to enjoy a successful Hollywood acting career, and has a string of notable film releases to his name including Panic Room, Highway, and  American Psycho. He snagged an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dallas Buyers Club.

The group's self-titled debut album was released in 2002, though it was their platinum-selling second album, A Beautiful Lie, which catapulted the band to true worldwide fame, paving the way for several massive tours. A Beautiful Lie was followed by their 2009 album This is War which reached the top 10 of several national album charts and earned numerous music awards. In 2013, the band left EMI for Universal Music, and released the critically acclaimed Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams 2013. A brand new music video, starring Kanye West and Lindsay Lohan, was released from the album to promote the track City of Angels. To date the band has sold over 10 million albums worldwide.

Thirty Seconds to Mars have won numerous music awards, including six Kerrang! Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, seven MTV Europe Music Awards, a NME award and a Billboard Music Award. The band also achieved a place in Guinness World Records as Longest Concert Tour by a Rock Band, performing 311 shows in just over two years.

The band’s first tour was the Forever Night, Never Day tour in 2006, followed by Welcome to the Universe tour in the same year. In 2007 they embarked upon A Beautiful Lie tour, performing at numerous venues and festivals worldwide. This was followed by two more world tours including Into the Wild 2010 and their recent 2013 Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams tour.

30 Seconds To Mars was amazing!

by Conns on 2013-10-06Sound Academy - Toronto

Jared Leto's voice was amazing live. Shannon was sick and still played. They are all about the fans and it shows. Fans were brought up on stage and they stayed to sign all the CD's that fans had after the show. Huge respect and <3 always!!

30 Seconds To Mars in TO 2013

    by dmfan519 on 2013-10-06Sound Academy - Toronto

Great group, great music and talent. Took a little warming up and Jared avoided a few high notes by getting the crowd to sing it for him but overall a good performance. This venue is my favourite in TO - safe, well organized, you can get as close as you want - it amazes me how polite everyone is here (always).

    30 Seconds to Mars

by Peakbanger on 2013-10-06Sound Academy - Toronto

The band was great as always but the Venue sucks big time, will never return. The stage is very low and you cannot see the band ,why not build the stage high so everyone can see?

    Thirty Seconds to Mars

by MamaEchelon on 2013-10-06Sound Academy - Toronto

Absolutely amazing concert. It is the best concert I have ever attended. 30STM are so in touch with their fans. They take the time to personalize and add so much to their concerts rather then having the average concert. Not to mention that Jared Leto sounds exactly what I had expected, he has the voice of an angel to say the least.

    Jared Leto is simply awesome

by hihan on 2013-10-05Métropolis - Montreal

This was the first time I saw 30 seconds to Mars and I didn't regret it for one second (except maybe the one when the stupid drunk woman in front of me was screaming to all her friends that "this moment with the acoustic guitar that everyone could enjoy if I wasn't screaming is soooooo lame !" The group that did their opening was awesome too, so props, really !

Live music will always be unique, but this was a performance, truly worth every penny. The crowd loved them and the band genuinely cared to give us a memorable show . I'll definitely see them again.

    What an epic experience!

by NatachaMo on 2013-10-04Métropolis - Montreal

30 Seconds to Mars was simply amazing Tuesday night (and I know they were last night too). They're just so good live! And I loved the interaction with the crowd. And they were funny :) New Politcs were also amazing! Both bands have incredible talent live! It's one thing to be great on CD, but then to be amazing live (not going off key and having stage presence, etc.) that's rare these days!Thank you so much for coming! And i hope they come back really soon!

YOU WILL NEVER GO TO A BETTER CONCERT

by Jaybud on 2012-03-30Kool Haus - Toronto

Thirty Seconds To Mars was my second concert ever and I absolutely LOVED THEM! They kept the crowd pumped throughout the entire show. The band interacted with the crowd throughout the entire performance, this band is a MUST SEE. The Echelon is one of the best fan bases out there, and you ALWAYS come out with new friends after the whole thing, Nothing better than a good mosh pit either :D

30 Seconds to Mars Know How To Wow the Crowd

by crashlanding on 2011-05-15Kool Haus - Toronto

30 STM never cease to amaze me and Jared Leto knows how to get the crowd going. They did an amazing acoustic set and had the whole crowd going crazy and singing along. It was a wicked show regardless of Jared having a cold. I would recommend anyone that is even a slight fan of this band to go to one of their shows. Also Anberlin opened and really got the crowd pumped up. This is a band that is highly underrated and every time I have seen them they put on an unbelievable performance. One of the best concerts overall that I have seen in a while!

    What a show!

    by 30stmsfan58 on 2011-05-13Kool Haus - Toronto

The show was just explosive from beginning to end. The opening band Anberlin set the floor and got the crowd reved up! With a final song backed by 30 seconds to mars members playing pranks on Anberlin, the opening set/band came to a close. After a wait while sound and lighting crew prepared for the band switch, 30 seconds to mars appears on stage to the excitement of there fans! Opening with "Escape" and "A Beautiful Lie" the stage was set for the rest of the evening which contained alot of crowd participation due to the lead singers lack of vocal cords "he was battling a cold" . Anyways the night was fabulous and 30 seconds to mars really knows how to please and entertain.

    5th time's a charm

by ChemicalEcho on 2011-05-09Kool Haus - Toronto

This concert marked the 5th time I have seen 30 Seconds to Mars in concert, and they have yet to disappoint me. They always have a different set list that features mainly songs from A Beautiful Lie and This is War. It was nice that they played pieces of songs from their first album, but I would love to hear some full out original songs. I wish they could have stuck around and done an autograph signing like some of the other shows I've seen with them, but I understand that it can't always be done. Can't wait for them to come back so I can see them for show 6.
