Ceremonies fantastic but seats allocation lousy

by pissoff on 2015-07-22PAD-Pan Am Ceremonies Venue - Toronto

My first time attending the opening ceremonies of a sports event. The atmosphere was unbelievable. I love it! I would have love it more had Ticket Master allocated better seats for us. I pre-ordered five tickets on Nov.19,2014 before their were offered to the public. I was assured best available seats. I assumed the seats would be pretty good. To my surprise, we were seated way up on the top and we could barely see anything. I would have gladly pay more for better seats had I known we would be seated way at the back. In any event, we should have been given much better seats considering I purchased them so early. We are very disappointed and I demand a REFUND. In the future, I would never ever purchase the tickets this way again.

    Opening Ceremonies Were Fantastic!

by mmurphy on 2015-07-19PAD-Pan Am Ceremonies Venue - Toronto

I loved it and I am so glad that I had a ticket for the event. I was in row ten and it was worth the cost of the ticket to watch Canada walk into the area in front of a cheering crowd! The music was great; Cirque du Soleil was fantastic and the entire event was the perfect tribute to culture. The organizers did an amazing job! Even the attendants on the main floor followed a dance routine. It went by so quickly. The US athletes were in front of where I sat and a lot of them were standing on their seats when Canada entered the arena. I was so glad to see Donovan Bailey involved in the final torch ceremonies; he has brought enormous pride to Canadians. It is once in a lifetime that a person is able to watch their country walk into their own city at an international event and I am delighted that I was one of the lucky ones.

    Opening ceremony dropped the ball

by ellendebbie on 2015-07-16PAD-Pan Am Ceremonies Venue - Toronto

It looked like and i expected an incredible show. BUT the stage was so far and i was even in the first row of seats, all the dancers were like little ants. AND the one big sceen was too small. It would have been nice to have some narration too.

    Lackluster opening ceremonies

by TitoCloe on 2015-07-15PAD-Pan Am Ceremonies Venue - Toronto

Transit to the event=Outstanding Volunteers=Outstanding Pre-Show/WarmUp with CBC personalities- Uninteresting(except Marta Chavez) Arrival of the flame by Donovan Bailey-IMPRESSIVE Parade of Athletes-Inspiring Opening sequence with First Nations Dancers-Beautiful Cirque du Soleil- I found there was too much at the same time. Hard to watch and enjoy one group. BMX sequence- Interesting and fun to watch. Arrival of the flags- Amazing TV screens were too small Roof not open, Overall, I felt there was a lack of Canadian entertainment and a lack of variety. Why didn't Serena Ryder perform her song live, to the people that paid a lot of money for the tickets? Instead she performs for free at a later date. Where was the star power to entertain?

Epic Pan Am 2015 opening ceremony!

by rach21br on 2015-07-15PAD-Pan Am Ceremonies Venue - Toronto

This was the first time I watched an opening ceremony for a major sporting event live (also the first event I attended at the Rogers Center - Toronto, ON), before I had watched many ceremonies on TV. The experience live is much more intense, the spectacle was really great! From arrival at the venue to the presentation, things were really well organized, lots of Pan Am volunteers to help people arriving, they were all so kind and helpfull. Cirque du Soleil did an amazing job with the artistic conception of the show and execution of their performances, lots of dance, daring acts, it was so much fun to watch. I didn't spot any moment that seemed like something went wrong, I thought everything was really well rehearsed and went perfectly well. However I do have one complaint regarding the ticketing of the games, including the opening ceremony. We can not choose our seats when we buy online tickets. I got my ticket way in advance and was not allowed to know where I was gonna end up seating up until my ticket arrived by mail. I didn't think it was the worst place to see all the action happening, not in the far end on the sides, I was fairly close to the center, but my seat was on a row way up. I just wish I had the chance to find an available seat on a row a little bit lower, and possibly more to the center. Despite this, I had an incredible experience watching my first major sporting event opening ceremony. Maybe we'll have an Olympic Games coming to town in the future, and I'll make sure I grab my tickets to that as well!

    Boring

by Anonymous on 2015-07-15PAD-Pan Am Ceremonies Venue - Toronto

I was super excited when I saw that I could buy tickets to the opening ceremonies, probably the closest I will ever get to going to the Olympics. Plus, I love Cirque du Soleil. Things only went downhill from there. 1. Don't tell me that I should be at the venue at 7pm, when the opening ceremonies begin at 8pm. The pre-opening ceremonies "show" was extremely boring. The comedians were just plain bad. 2. The show itself felt extremely low budget. The stage was tiny, and they could have decorated the space more. 3. The cirque show was also disappointing. No where near as good as the ones in Vegas. But I guess travelling cirque shoes can't be as good as the ones with the set stages. 4. Thank god for free wifi within Skydome. I spent more time on my phone, on twitter, facebook, pinterest, email etc than actually paying attention. 5. Ended up leaving early because we were bored, and didn't want to get stuck in the crowds. 6. Extremely disappointed that the dome was closed since it was such a nice night, and we could have watched the fireworks from the seats.

    Amazing experience

by CanCzech on 2015-07-15PAD-Pan Am Ceremonies Venue - Toronto

The instructions about being in the place 1:15 hours earlier was not necessary. They should just let us know more about the program itself instead. The show itself was amazing and the dynamics of it is just something hard to describe. Made me proud to be Canadian.

    ZO001 Opening Ceremony

by Elder6 on 2015-07-14PAD-Pan Am Ceremonies Venue - Toronto

The Pre-show was a bit boring and amateurish, cirque du Soleil was good, except there were so much going on at the same time, it just looked too busy. Where I was sitting is pretty much at eye level with the stage, when all the dancers were on stage at the same time, I could only see those on the outside, I think the people at the 500 level has a much better and complete view than those of us at the bottom part at the field level, and the TV Screens were hung too high near the Rafter for us to have a good look, especially if your seat is not in front of the Screen, I understand that they had to have the screen where they are, otherwise people at 500 level would have obstructed views,

    2015 Pan Am opening ceremony

The opening ceremony definitely exceeded our expectation. Cirque du Soleil was truly amazing! We're so proud to be a part of this once in a lifetime event.
