About

TRICK PONY IN CONCERT:

Country rockers Trick Pony first got boots stomping back in 2000 with their whiskey-soaked debut single "Pour Me", and they continue to bring a rollicking barroom vibe to every venue they play. Lead singer Heidi Newfield's arresting voice resembles a down-home Stevie Nicks, and her ability to jump from tender vulnerability to sheer power in the blink of an eye always knocks fans' socks off. As she kicks up dust with twangy vocals and tuneful harmonica on fun-loving tracks like "On a Night Like This" and "Everybody Wanna Be Us", the rest of the band keeps pace with live-wire guitar, bass, and drums that always get fans clapping their hands and moving their feet. Ticket buyers looking for some feel-good country fun won't want to miss Trick Pony as they strut their stuff in concert.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Trick Pony was formed in Nashville in the late '90s by guitarist Keith Burns and bassist Ira Dean, two country music veterans who had previously worked as backing players for big names like Tanya Tucker and Joe Diffie. After bringing on singer Heidi Newfield they began performing at venues throughout the South, and before long their boisterous live shows had earned them a substantial following. In 2000 Trick Pony signed with Warner Bros. Records and released their self-titled debut album, which went gold thanks to Top 20 country hits like "Pour Me" and "Just What I Do". They notched another Top 20 hit in 2002 with "On a Mission", the title track from their acclaimed sophomore album. The band's rise continued with 2005's R.I.D.E. (US Country No. 4), but in 2006 Newfield left the band to pursue a solo career.  After a seven-year hiatus, Trick Pony reunited in 2013 for a benefit concert in Boston, and in 2014 they announced they'd be returning to the studio. The long wait for new material ended in early 2016 with the Pony Up EP, a stellar return to form that proved this pony still has plenty of tricks up its sleeve.
