About

New York indie-rock act Vampire Weekend's third album, Modern Vampires of the City, hit the streets in 2013 and debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart. The feat was nothing new for the acclaimed young band, which also topped the chart with their preceding album, 2010's Contra.
Ezra Koenig (lead vocals), Chris Baio (bass), Chris Tomso (drums), and Rostam Batmanglij (producer and multi-instrumentalist) formed Vampire Weekend while attending New York's Columbia University, and their fusing of alt-rock sensibilities with African rhythms and hooks was garnering plenty of attention long before they'd released their self-titled debut album in 2008 -- in fact, their first appearance on the cover of Spin magazine came before their first album hit stores. The early acclaim and scrutiny didn't faze the band, which continued to impress fans and critics with each new release. Vampire Weekend remained a fixture on the tour circuit in 2013 as the foursome headlined concerts at large venues around the world and topped bills at major festivals. Fans who scored tickets in 2013 heard the band play favorites like "A-Punk," "Oxford Comma," and "Horchata," along with several songs from Modern Vampires of the City.

Vampire Weekend - Refreshing and Electric

    by putty016 on 2010-09-04Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

One of the first things you will notice when you hear Vampire Weekend is that they have a very unique sound and it is as catchy as it gets. Their live performance was very good, as they were full of energy. The sound was done well, unlike the openers but hey that's not a big surprise. They were exceptional at not only captivating the crowd but also at including them in much of their act, which made the show top notch. Any band can perform, its those bands which bring the audience into their act that make the best shows: Vampire Weekend does this.

Vampire Weekend in the Pouring Rain

by jc384 on 2010-09-01McMenamins Historic Edgefield Manor - Troutdale

Absolutely amazing from start to finish, if you get the chance to see these guys live do it. Traveled from Saskatchewan to take this in and it was worth it they sounded great! The rain did not dampen anyone spirits at anytime throughout the night you could look across the crowd and everyone was dancing and enjoying themselves. The light show was really good and the use of the chandeliers in several songs was unique in a good way. Would definitely go again.

by vkabs on 2010-08-30Malkin Bowl - Vancouver

Really enjoyed the show, the boys were energetic, magnetic and they played my favourite songs. It was a great outdoor venue, and overall, I don't really have anything bad so say about the concert.

I love watching Vampire Weekend live. They are one of the few groups out there dedicated to truly entertaining the audience. The show is non-stop dancing from start to finish and a high recommendation for multiple viewings.

    A beautiful Vampire Weekend

by soldyouremine on 2010-06-13Edmonton Event Centre - Edmonton

This was on March 14, 2010 but for some reason it is an invalid date to actually put up top :S Everything was amazing, as expected, except for the venue. It sucked. Oh and the fact that they didn't say it was all ages with licensed area (which had the best view). Even though I am 19 I look really young, and usually don't carry I.D with me (since I don't drive, I just don't see the need...). On the ticket it said all-ages. So that was really annoying because my friend and I had to drive all the way back to my house and made it about halfway through the opener. The Blow opened and was really good, in a really quirky way. She was kinda drowned out by the music, and her lyrics blurred together, but for an opening act, that I had never heard of she was really good. Great stage presence. I even downloaded her songs after I got home. V-W was of course just amazing! They played all their hits from both albums and didn't disappoint. Even their backdrop was entertaining!
