Acapella singing by Bach Choir was such a treat! Loved the Vespres! Unexpected delight was the first half of the concert with three Canadian contemporary works (with the composers present and introducing their works).

Rating: 5 out of 5by Nataliya on 2011-03-21Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver Rating: 4 out of 5 Singalong Messiah
by Meadowlark3 on 2010-12-15Orpheum Theatre - VancouverThe orchestra, choirs and soloists were amazing. The new director has much more fluid hand movements than his predecessor and is therefore far more pleasing to watch. The program was confusing. There were two Messiah programs, one of which was the shorter version. Many people did not realize this and were flipping through their scores to find the right selection. At previous Singalongs we had the joy of repeating the Hallelujah chorus as an encore at the end of the concert. It ends the concert on a "high note" and should be continued.
Rating: 4 out of 5by Anonymous on 2010-12-13Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver It was nice to hear the complete work - this is not often done! The conductor has big shoes to fill - I am not sure I fully liked his interpretation of the piece. The choir is always amazing.

Rating: 3 out of 5by Nataliya on 2010-12-13Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver it was good, but not great. I found the performance a bit uninspired... Choir was great in some parts, but not always--I wished they were a bit sharper at times. The trumpet was fantastic though.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Chritmas with the Bach Choir
by Corry on 2010-12-07Orpheum Theatre - VancouverI enjoyed most of the Bach Choir performances, especially the second half. I would have liked to have heard more of the traditional Christmas carols as I was not familiar with several of the ones sung. Also, the sing-a-long where we were asked to stand was annoying rather than enjoyable. I came to listen to the choir, not my fellow patrons. I wanted to hear more from the adult Bach choir. My friend did not think the children's choir was much better than the average school choir, but I thought they were very good. The other young choirs were excellent.
