Vancouver Canucks History

The Vancouver Canucks started play in 1970, entering the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. Vancouver has been to the Stanley Cup Final on three occasions, though they lost to the New York Islanders in 1982, the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Despite humble beginnings, the Canucks continued to develop. With the arrival of three key players—Captain Trevor Linden, netminder Kirk McLean, and "the Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, the Canucks had a winning Playoff run season—making it to the 1994 finals.

The Canucks continued to acquire superstars like Alexander Mogilny and Markus Näslund, and while the following years meant a series of losses, it allowed for the team to draft Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who would go on to lead the Canucks to Presidents' Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, as well as their finals appearance in 2011.

  • Big Improvement!

by Dojin on 2023-03-06Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I’m disabled and I’ve griped in the past saying Rogers Arena doesn’t care about the disabled because they don’t help us get our food or put condiments on it etc. but now that’s all changed and now they give us a menu of all the different vendors and we order right at our seat and they bring it to our seats for us along with napkins and condiments i packets so we can easily put them on ourselves. I hope this never goes away! It’s awesome and highly appreciated!

  • Canucks and Bruins Game Feb. 25/23

by Ruperdite on 2023-03-01Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome game. Close score and the Bruins goalie scored a goal! The venue at Roger's Arena in Vancouver was great as per usual. Nice 50/50 amount for the lucky winner. The arena was full and everyone was in good spirits. Great time.

  • One incident a little upsetting

    by C. D. on 2023-02-18Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

You had so kindly shot shirts out into the crowd and we were there celebrating our daughters 21st birthday at the Canucks and Rangers game. Her friend had caught one of the shirts and had dropped it. The young guy behind her had scooped it up and offered it back for $400.00. It was a shirt of course and 2 tickets to the Dixie Chicks, if you knew this kind lady and had any idea how much she loved and sings to the Chicks, you would have also felt bad for her. We are heading back for the canucks Boston bruins game. I hope she catches a shirt then. We brought a lot of money over to the mainland 😉 limos hotels vendors shopping malls

  • Good game,seat too narrow

    by BRB63 on 2023-02-18Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

I sat in Club seats ,had nice view, seat is too narrow. I think it should be put on description that these seats are abit narrower than regular Club Seats. Not comfortable with other people around. I was in seat 3,row. 2 couples on each side.

The overall experience was wonderful. The pre-game is one of the best I’ve seen.

  • At least we were able to see McDavid play...

by Vancouver Island Canucks Fan on 2023-01-24Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5

We travelled from the Island to watch another game and saw the Canucks lose their 5th game we have been to in a row. It was an incredibly expensive trip to watch the Canucks lose again, a roster which included many players who are on the trading block, and then fire their coach who was treated so poorly...at least they scored 2 goals this time and we got to see McDavid play...

  • Highlight of our trip to Vancouver

by Fi Hopkins on 2023-01-23Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

This was our first ice hockey experience and it did not disappoint. Very exciting and fast paced, crowds were enthusiastic and happy to explain what was happening to some clueless Australians. Thanks Canucks and Avalanche fans, you made our experience enjoyable and memorable.

  • Stamkos made the game!

by Mike on 2023-01-21Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

I don't get to attend Canucks games too often. Canucks played hard but Tampa have at least 5 future HOF'ers playing.

  • Canucks Win @ Home

    by M&J on 2023-01-15Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

We’re from Australia where Ice Hockey is not such a big thing! J loves the Canucks and it was wonderful to be at the game for a good win. Everything about our experience was A1 - the stadium, entry, seating and the entertainment - it was extremely safe and clean! Looking forward to our next game against the Blackhawks! Thanks from M&J. 😊

  • decent family event

by FirstTimeVanc on 2023-01-08Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Despite the fact that Canucks lost 2:6 we've enjoyed the evening at the Rogers Arena. I went there with my two daughters. We were prepared to see some action and to feel the fan atmosphere of the best Hockey league of the world. Well, compared to Germany (e.g. Loewen Frankfurt, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDCmp5lSMbA) the experience was kind of unspectacular. We've missed the fan blocks, the cheering and some real noise. You can leave the earplugs at home and rather take some popcorn ;) Hey Vancouver - you have to push your team. Be the seventh player on the ice. Get loud!
