Vancouver Canucks History

The Vancouver Canucks started play in 1970, entering the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. Vancouver has been to the Stanley Cup Final on three occasions, though they lost to the New York Islanders in 1982, the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Despite humble beginnings, the Canucks continued to develop. With the arrival of three key players—Captain Trevor Linden, netminder Kirk McLean, and "the Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, the Canucks had a winning Playoff run season—making it to the 1994 finals.

The Canucks continued to acquire superstars like Alexander Mogilny and Markus Näslund, and while the following years meant a series of losses, it allowed for the team to draft Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who would go on to lead the Canucks to Presidents' Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, as well as their finals appearance in 2011.

The game was wonderful, exiting. Had a great view of the action from my seat.

  • Pretty Smooth

by Brad on 2022-03-12Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Overall a pretty good event. Lots of multimedia stuff before the game, and in the breaks. I was particularly impressed with the organization to check our vax passports followed by tickets. It appeared chaotic but was really smooth and quick (under 5 minutes).

  • Door checks

The vaccine checks at the door were quick and efficiently done.

  • Worst game of the season!

by Tberman on 2022-02-21Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

The effort was horrible and no players seemed to care at all. I brought four guest and the nights hi light was the dog race in the second intermission. Waste of money and time

  • Beware of seats paired together that actually are not

by Nomi on 2022-02-21Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Great game, but I bought tickets through this site for my kids and I, all appeared as standard tickets side by side, but 3 ended up being in 104 club section and 1 was in 103- non club so had to use different entrance and were physically separated with a metal bar!! All showed up as standard tix when I bought so made it very difficult and no obvious warning when I bought them.

  • Chasing the game

by DJ on 2022-02-21Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Ducks came out hungry and in control of the puck. Canucks on their heals and before we knew it Canucks were down 4-0! The Canucks battled back but too little too late for 4-7 loss. Demko was definitely off his game. Hope he is okay. Crowd stayed positive overall.

  • Amazing experience at the game and with ticket master

by Emma on 2022-02-21Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The arena was nice and so was the game. The tickets felt very fairly priced and were good but still affordable for students

  • Canuck Game Against Wpg.

by Greg Carr on 2021-12-13Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Canucks won 4-3 in a shoot out. Demko was very good both teams had 31 shots in regulation. Hoglander scored twice. Blake Wheeler scored his first goal of the season for the Jets in his 22nd game. It was 80's night nice music and I paid $27 for two foot long 4 cheese hotdogs. Canucks are undefeated since Boudreau took over as a coach he challenged a Wpg goal because of goalie interference and won. Not a rough or tough game although Hoglander totally dumped a Jet player at their bench during a shift change. Pederson hit the crossbar in the first period with a great shot that fluttered the puck but scored the OT winner the crowd was encouraging him throughout the game. Crowd 3 times in the third level broke out into 7 Nation Army complete sometimes with standing and hand clapping but when the dj played it later no one joined in. Fin the Canuck mascot had a flying V jersey on with 50 on it. Vancouver Warriors lacrosse team play their first home game on Dec. 17 their cheerleaders were at Rogers quite delish I guess it is now faux pas to show a belly button. 3 Indos dudes said hi in a unique way.

  • Awesome Game Canucks

by Mike in M.R. on 2021-12-09Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Brought my elderly mother with mobility issues from out of town who is a long time Canucks fan but has never been to an NHL game. We sat in the wheelchair section as she can’t do stairs. She had the absolutely best time. Thanks Canucks for a great evening.

  • Fun, but could be better (and safer)

by William on 2021-12-08Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

The Canucks' game day experience has been better since the Vegas Golden Knights forced the rest of the NHL to step up their game. Entry (including vaccine passport check) was seamless. Concession offerings were reasonably priced compared to other venues. Production values contiune to be high but music & video clip choices between faceoffs were either ininspired or questionable (such as using a scene from Grease, a movie that glamorizes date rape). Far more needed to be done to enforce the mask mandate, as several fans in my section could not be bothered to keep their masks on at any point during the game, which is troubling given the loud booing and yelling they directed at the struggling Canucks team. Whitecaps FC supporters at BC Place are far more conscientious. I have tickets to two more games this season, and hope some changes are made off the production end to match the recent changes to the team's leadership.

  • Disappointed

    by C on 2021-12-07Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

After employee came through line outside to check for proof of vaccine and ID I saw a person cut in line and never get checked. We sat in our seats to have 4 men already drunk sit beside us. They drank so much during the game it was ridiculous. One threw up, the others continued to spill their drinks. Our isle was discussing and had to be cleaned at least 4 times. I went to the ladies washroom to see a woman with a drink in hand so drunk she had to be shown how to get into a stall. Very disappointed that people are not cut off when drinking so much.
