Vancouver Canucks History

The Vancouver Canucks started play in 1970, entering the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. Vancouver has been to the Stanley Cup Final on three occasions, though they lost to the New York Islanders in 1982, the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Despite humble beginnings, the Canucks continued to develop. With the arrival of three key players—Captain Trevor Linden, netminder Kirk McLean, and "the Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, the Canucks had a winning Playoff run season—making it to the 1994 finals.

The Canucks continued to acquire superstars like Alexander Mogilny and Markus Näslund, and while the following years meant a series of losses, it allowed for the team to draft Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who would go on to lead the Canucks to Presidents' Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, as well as their finals appearance in 2011.

Was great to be back at a canucks game. Atmosphere and crowd where energetic. Aside from wearing the mask the whole game, felt great to have some normalicy. Even including the 16$ tall buds.

I was visiting Vancouver and went to this game to see the Oilers play as I’m from Edmonton and an Oilers fan. I invited my daughter to join me. It was a great experience for both of us. Rogers Arena isn’t quite as good as Rogers Place, however; the latter is newer. The Canucks fans were respectful.

  • Excellent

Awesome game experience! Definitely worth going to! Top notch entertainment from the game itself but also from the arena events outside the play.

The Canucks arena has become too loud......excessive loud music is ruining the hockey atmosphere. Canucks sports and entertainment should focus more on the players and the game itself, and keep the contests, HD screen, loud music, etc. to a minimum. (Most) people don't go to a hockey game to get their ears blown off by loud music; fans just want to see an exciting end-to-end game with edge of your seat action. That being said, the home team (or the modern game in general) is in dire need of a makeover. When the home team doesn't score a single goal until there is five seconds left (garbage time) in the third period, it gets very difficult to become optimistic about the season. The Oiler fans were more vocal than the home fans. The arena was packed though, which was a good sign. However, let the game be the star of the show next time, and re-assign the DJ to the clubs of downtown Vancouver, where people actually go to dance and listen to loud music.

  • Game was great but the experience wasn’t

    by Nimo’s N4 on 2021-10-31Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Too many massless people, way too busy on the concourse. I feel we need to ensure everyone follows the rules

  • Fun At The Garage

by JN on 2021-10-30Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Great as always. Protocols in effect and most people follow. Staff is courteous as always. Felt safe among 18,000. Can't wait to get back.

  • Van vs Edmonton

The seats were good and the atmosphere was good but the beer was to expensive and same with the food.

  • First game

Brought kids to there first game. All around good game but didn’t like the $36 for parking in costco parkade as parking beside stadium was used for film crews

  • Vancouver Canucks vs Calgary Flamers!!

by Valicous on 2021-10-02Abbotsford Centre - AbbotsfordRating: 5 out of 5

Was so nice to be a fan back in the stands!! Our Canucks played so well, came out of the gate just gunning for a win… and they didn’t disappoint!!

  • Good game... not comfortable

by Aste on 2021-10-01Abbotsford Centre - AbbotsfordRating: 4 out of 5

Game was amazing... but I’m not impressed with the Abbotsford center... when your seating people at 50% capacity is there a need to cram an entire section slammed full!? The rest of the arena was all spaced Nicely.. when you can’t even pick your seats only your row at least give a seat between each group of tickets.. I was disappointed you only did this is the most expensive section just to make the most money

  • Good start

by Geoff on 2021-09-30Abbotsford Centre - AbbotsfordRating: 3 out of 5

Fun to be at live hockey again. Goal horn is too loud. Security did a great job of reminding people to stay masked. Concessions are inadequate for a full house. Get tap for purchases - no more signing credit chits. Popcorn is bagged; is fresh popcorn possible?

  • Almost Perfect

by Citrus on 2021-09-30Abbotsford Centre - AbbotsfordRating: 4 out of 5

The only issue I had was all the people walking around without masks and nobody was enforcing the mask policy. I saw several people get it without wearing a mask and a couple people avoid the vaccination card screening tent.

  • Good experience

by Palvinder on 2021-09-30Abbotsford Centre - AbbotsfordRating: 4 out of 5

It was a great game. Even though everyone was vaccinated at the game, there was no social distancing. That was disappointing to see. Would be nice if the vendors accepted debit cards.

  • Amazing night out

by Oochka on 2021-09-30Abbotsford Centre - AbbotsfordRating: 5 out of 5

First game since Feb 2020. The atmosphere was great, what we needed to recharge and forget the last year and a half. Boys played well. My son enjoyed every minute of it. Arena was clean and outgoing. Can’t wait for more games to come. Thank you for a fun night out with my son.

  • Exciting

  • No enforcement of mask wearing. Really poorly regulated.

    by b on 2021-09-30Abbotsford Centre - AbbotsfordRating: 1 out of 5

Did not feel safe at all. Noone enforcing mask wearing.

  • Great game in a smaller arena

    by Local Girl15 on 2021-09-30Abbotsford Centre - AbbotsfordRating: 5 out of 5

Great experience & masks were enforced making me feel safe while watching the game. I just wished their popcorn was fresh.

  • NHL comes to the city in the country!

by DartLady on 2021-09-28Abbotsford Centre - AbbotsfordRating: 5 out of 5

It was great to have the Canucks play in Abbotsford as we welcome the AHL affiliate in a few short weeks. Conflicting information regarding mask wearing was frustrating, but all in all it was a great night out. Go Canucks Go!

Not having a physical ticket was a bit stressful , but the check of my electronic ticket was seamless at the gate.
