Vancouver Canucks History

The Vancouver Canucks started play in 1970, entering the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. Vancouver has been to the Stanley Cup Final on three occasions, though they lost to the New York Islanders in 1982, the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Despite humble beginnings, the Canucks continued to develop. With the arrival of three key players—Captain Trevor Linden, netminder Kirk McLean, and "the Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, the Canucks had a winning Playoff run season—making it to the 1994 finals.

The Canucks continued to acquire superstars like Alexander Mogilny and Markus Näslund, and while the following years meant a series of losses, it allowed for the team to draft Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who would go on to lead the Canucks to Presidents' Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, as well as their finals appearance in 2011.

by Rosie on 2024-04-29Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been a Canucks fan since 1995, and am proud to say I belong to the best ever Canucks fans who stay strong and loyal to the team win or lose, and Stanley yet to be. Had a few times seeing them play at the Rogers Place arena, you could feel the positive vibes and oneness of the fans cheering and supporting their team. Hats off to the smooth flow of the security provided by the arena in particular and the city in general. So Go Canucks Go!

  • Best entertainment value ever

by jcdrama on 2024-04-29Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent entertainment value - best in town. Watching our Canucks on the huge jumbotron at GM place, with the Nuck's home ice below, thousands of cheering fans, waving the iconic white flag, brilliant. Vancouver, and surrounding areas, proving Mayor Sims wrong, as we embrace the excitement of playoff hockey if a fun, incident-free manor. An away win, best result. Thank you Canucks for (finally) bringing the excitement of play-off hockey back to our province. Ticket cost was $15 and it all goes to charity (Canucks Kids).

  • Better than watching in a Bar

by Social Stan on 2024-04-29Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great experience! The atmosphere was awesome! Prices of beers, hot dogs & popcorn make it a very inexpensive outing! The Canucks should do it for all their away games!

  • Canucks Viewing Party

by RaRe on 2024-04-29Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I think this review request was for the viewing party for Game 3 away playoff game. Is it’s for a Canucks game in person, then prices are high but it is a good atmosphere. Patrons are drinking more during the playoffs so you have to deal with more yelling and goofy behaviour. Very reasonable ticket price of $15. Sit in the Lower Bowl or low rows of the Upper Bowl on the sides or ends, if possible. The atmosphere is great! Good was normal, thus pricey. They lower the massive scoreboard but below Row 14 in the Lower Bowl, you are still looking slightly up. Super annoying but understandable that they only opened sections as ticket sales progressed. Don’t sit in corners as you will be seeing the corner of the scoreboard. It is rounded but you see the right half on your left and the left half on your right. Would have given me a headache.

  • Fantastic Canucks Viewing Party

The Canucks did a great job at making this feel like a home game, the towels, the atmosphere, the bands, etc. Lots of families and fans enjoying their team. Thank you!

If you can't afford regular tickets this is definitely a must go to event! Eat before or after as prices are high but be prepared to buy $5 waters as you will be screamng alot!!

The Canucks did a great job. Brought my kid and her friends. The screen was huge and the atmosphere was electric. Loved how the experience was similar to a real game and the tickets were reasonable. We hope the Canucks do this again!

  • Amazing game and great overall experience

by HappyZorro on 2024-04-29Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve never attended a viewing party (canucks game on the jumbotron) at Roger’s Arena and I have to say it was a great experience. The quality of the video was great, the sound was amazing and the food and drink choices were excellent. I will definitely be attending more of these if our Canucks continue to advance in the playoffs
