Vancouver Canucks History

The Vancouver Canucks started play in 1970, entering the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. Vancouver has been to the Stanley Cup Final on three occasions, though they lost to the New York Islanders in 1982, the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Despite humble beginnings, the Canucks continued to develop. With the arrival of three key players—Captain Trevor Linden, netminder Kirk McLean, and "the Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, the Canucks had a winning Playoff run season—making it to the 1994 finals.

The Canucks continued to acquire superstars like Alexander Mogilny and Markus Näslund, and while the following years meant a series of losses, it allowed for the team to draft Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who would go on to lead the Canucks to Presidents' Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, as well as their finals appearance in 2011.

  • Amazing experience

by Jessica on 2024-04-29Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

We (family of four) were at the Canucks viewing party at Rogers on Friday evening. What an amazing experience! The energy in there was pumping and positive. We have been to regular season Canucks games and this felt more exciting than that and they weren’t evening playing on the ice in front of us! Good job Rogers and the Canucks. We’d go again in a second.

  • Playoff hockey has returned to Vancouver

    by @officialcanucksplayoffbucket on 2024-04-24Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Say whatever you want, but WIN or lose, to watch Canucks Playoff hockey live in person is WELL worth the money! I wished that ever regular season game could be this loud and this intense! I have been fortunate enough to attend both games 1 and 2 and LOVED them both! The energy in game one, before, during and after the GAME could blow the roof off of Rogers Arena! If you have to, move heaven and Earth to be there in person, DO IT!

Was my first game and it was a great experience all staff were fast efficient and friendly

  • The games have become a non-stop assault on the eardrums.

by backstreetjohnny on 2024-04-11Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

The game was amazing - I love the Canucks! But be prepared to endure a 2.5 hour assault on your eardrums. I was continually receiving loud environment notifications and the constant need to entertain with excessively loud electronic dance music and between whistle promotions meant that my ears are still ringing two days after the game. It's kind of like staring at a solar eclipse or sitting for hours in the summer sun without sunscreen. So sad that the powers that be feel that it's necessary to ruin such an amazing event.

  • Great time / too much alcohol advertising

by LT on 2024-03-28Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

We had a great time. It was my first NHL game at 36years old! I was so excited. As someone who works in addiction medicine I was appalled at the amount of blatant and direct advertising regarding alcohol consumption at this event. I understand that sporting events are often associated with drinking however the encouragement of this was something that I did not expect. There were multiple highly intoxicated people in attendance often requiring support up the stairs by Roger’s staff and volunteers. These folks were then escorted out. I would encourage your organization and the staff of Roger’s arena to take a step back and evaluate the impact of this.

  • Amazing atmosphere

by Dstdenis on 2024-03-27Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Everything from entry to exit was amazing. Great staff, great fans and great atmosphere. They really put on a good show at Rogers Arena and engage the fans as well as having a great product on the ice. Well worth the money.

  • Exciting Canucks versus Canadiens game

by Big Diehard Habs Fan on 2024-03-24Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The hockey game was well-entertained between the talented Canucks and the industrious Canadiens on March 21st. However, my seat was very good to view the game on the slant side upstairs (Row 25). There were a great deal of flashy lighting against my eyes and noisy roars that made my headaches! Every admission went very smoothly for me and my friend. The cost of eatery and drinks was unreasonably costly, unfortunately. Otherwise, it was fun-filled to watch the speedy game for us. Cheers.

I took a group with 5 kids and 2 adults. Everyone had an amazing time. It was expensive to attend so it is something that won’t happen very often.

  • Canucks win

by Keepitreal on 2024-03-12Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Cannot believe they have NO CUP HOLDERS at the Canucks home game. Not only did they trash the Jets ( my team) even worse there was no where to put your beverages! How can that be???

Took the family to thier first game, believe they enjoyed most of it except the score. Only complaint is the seats! There could be more cushion for comfort.

  • Go Jets Go

by Joanne on 2024-02-20Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Leading up to the Canucks - Jets game Ticketmaster continually reminded me how to store my ticket on my iPhone, how to gain entry on game day, and when I was to be at Rogers Arena. I was left feeling as if the game wouldn't go on until I got there. The game itself was amazing filled with all of the razzamatazz you can imagine. The best experience ever!
