Vancouver Canucks History

The Vancouver Canucks started play in 1970, entering the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. Vancouver has been to the Stanley Cup Final on three occasions, though they lost to the New York Islanders in 1982, the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Despite humble beginnings, the Canucks continued to develop. With the arrival of three key players—Captain Trevor Linden, netminder Kirk McLean, and "the Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, the Canucks had a winning Playoff run season—making it to the 1994 finals.

The Canucks continued to acquire superstars like Alexander Mogilny and Markus Näslund, and while the following years meant a series of losses, it allowed for the team to draft Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who would go on to lead the Canucks to Presidents' Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, as well as their finals appearance in 2011.

  • Wow

by JC on 2024-02-18Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Getting in, no trouble. The atmosphere and the Canuck win was the wow! The only hassle? Getting out and finding a cab, real bad.

Rogers Arena has never been louder, and I’ve been to a lot of games.

  • Carnage is what we came for!

by KimmyD on 2024-01-29Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Travelled from Aus! Our seats were unbelievable, the atmosphere was next level. We came for carnage, and just happened to see an awesome game. Even if it wasn’t the end result we wanted. Go Canucks Go!

  • The building is ran like a dumpster fire! Zero respect!

by Get The Job Done on 2024-01-27Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

So many deficiencies in the building and dereliction in the way it is ran. Apparently, it's now all about making big serious cash, in violation of the fans rights & expectations associated as attendees to a pro sports event, in Canada. Never ever has been like this i our Vancouver Canucks history. It's really embarrassing as an original fan! They don't seem to care whatsoever either, because they have been made aware way too many times, and it just is getting much worse, instead of better! No way any other business would make it operating in this fashion. They need a stiffer notice, because they are sleeping at the wheel. Leading me to write this! It's definitely not classy at all, how they operate!

  • Hardly any of the bathroom taps work

by Get The Job Done on 2024-01-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

So many of the auto taps in the bathrooms are not working in the building for like 3 years now. It's getting so ran down. Apparently they don't care about the customer at all! Just keep raising tickets prices so no working families can afford it either. The seats are literally falling apart! So are the new black ones only a few months old. Sad state, I've never seen like this since the coliseum, which we didn't care about we were use to it. Tickets were reasonable in relation, too. We really are not getting what we are paying for with the venue! Luckily for them, the team is doing good, so they even seem to care a lot less this year.

  • Love Live Hockey!

by Vancouver Island fan on 2024-01-25Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Bought our tickets 6 months ago to see Chicago Blackhawks (and Connor Bedard) play our Vancouver Canucks. Planned our trip from Vancouver Island. Tickets were going fast, but we got good seats in the lower bowl. Learned how to have our tickets, in my wallet on my phone and had an easy time at the entrance. Enjoyed the pre-game excitement around the arena and the hustle and bustle of all the fans. Had a wonderful, first class pre-game dinner at 'Carve' and fun watching all the entertainment at commercial time and at intermission times. Would love to go again, soon!

  • Fun night!

by Hack on 2024-01-25Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

It was exciting in the first period when the Canucks scored two goals very quickly, but the rest of the game was somewhat so so. What really made the evening fun where all the events that went on besides the game. The music, contests, the halftime entertainment, and the general atmosphere, where everyone was having a good time, made it a great evening..

  • Awesome experience

by KiwiFamily on 2024-01-25Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

We are a family from New Zealand who were on holiday in Canada. Our 16 yr old daughter really wanted to see an ice hockey game. We were blown away by the pregame build up, the entertainment and interaction with the crowd. Great experience for us. Glad the Canucks scored twice in 1st period.

  • Great first game

by Steph on 2024-01-25Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

We loved our first trip and lucked out with Free treats and drinks. The NHL store was a bit expensive. Almost $450 for my kids to get toque, toy and foam finger

  • Entertaining

by Markus on 2024-01-23Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I haven’t been to a Canucks game in a long time. The entertainment pregame and throughout was a lot of fun. The game itself was everything I expected. The Canucks are fun to watch this year. Finally, hockey to look forward to. Great job from Rogers arena staff, the quality local singer to the Canucks management!

  • It was a great time. Felt safe at all times

by West Coast Hockey Trip on 2024-01-23Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Stayed in a hotel 9 minutes away so an easy walk through the weed clouds to the game. We were in the upper bowl and the railing that were in front of every row was just the right height to block my wife's view of the game. Surprisingly only 2 washrooms on the top level.

  • Outstanding experience!

  • Great Atmosphere

by Jiffy Jeff on 2024-01-23Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The Canucks in house video presentation prior and during the game was excellent and kept the fans throughly entertained. Even though my team lost it was an awesome game to be at and hopefully I'll get another chance to take in another Leafs/Canuckleheads game again soon.

  • It’s our year

    by TML 24 on 2024-01-23Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

It was a fun game to be at and lots of goals were scored. My seats views were slightly blocked by the railings that are around the stairs. So picking better next time will be priority.

  • First NHL Game ever

by Monique on 2024-01-05Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Very impressive. The ice Hockey Game, entertainment, the crowd, the Stadium. For Tuesday night Game it wasn't that excitement or noisy as a lot people with small children were at the Arena. But we enjoyed it. It was our First NHL game ever and we were travelling from Germany to watch the game. Loved it. We were setting in row 8 behind the goal Keeper and loved the view.
