Great Performance Filled With Human Connection

by Mira on 2019-11-08Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

Definitely recommend to all the Harry Potter lovers out there, whether you're a fan of the movies, the books, the soundtracks, or the connection that you feel when you express to other HP lovers about your excitement of the wizard world. This is my second concert of the series, as I previously enjoyed the first film in concert. If you want to feel an invisible connection with strangers which you'll probably never meet again by sharing the joyous experiences of the movie, this is it. A solid 9/10 from me, as a film lover, HP lover, and concert lover. A great idea to combine well-loved HP films with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and to bring it back every season. Also kudos to introducing more young people to the often overlooked orchestra and concert experience.

The movie and orchestra were amazing.

by Gymmy on 2019-11-05Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

But the closure of the bars down to two open bars created lineups. The previous performances had many more open bars to avoid massive lineups. Not sure what happened but the ticket prices hasn’t changed so I don’t get it. Performance was great, accessibility for drinks and food was reduced. Not a good idea seeing as the price is still the same.

Great, but need a better way to see the orchestra.

by Ron on 2019-11-05Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

Maybe risers or mirrored backing or a second camera to see the people playing the instruments.

Loved the experience and yet needed more percussion...views

by a. t. on 2019-11-05Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

There is nothing better than a HP film with the Toronto Symphony! You really realize how ubiquitous music is in the movies. It is so cool to see which instruments play what pats and sounds, and the pre-talks are great for added insights. My only complaint...move the screen back to the back wall again, so we can see all of the orchestra as I missed being able to see the percussion group this time.

    Excellent!

by Shirl on 2019-11-05Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

This was our second time attending a Harry Potter movie/concert with the TSO (I came with my 12-year-old daughter) and we were not disappointed. Even though we sat higher up, we had great seats and could see (and hear) everything! The music was so captivating and on time with the action on screen! Of course, the movie was great! We highly recommend attending the next concert in May 2020!

    Amazing experience!

by Elizabeth on 2019-11-05Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

We were not sure what to expect but we were blown away. The TSO performed beautifully. The music was so realistic that you forgot it was being performed live. I would recommend this experience to anyone.

    Amazing

by Ellevee on 2019-11-05Meridian Hall (formerly Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) - Toronto

It was magical to be able to watch the movie and see the live orchestra at the same time! I often forgot it was live music because it was so seamless. The actual quality of the film could have been better as the dark scenes were next to impossible to see but overall I had an amazing time and definitely want to go to another one!

Seeing Harry Potter with the Symphony was a wonderful experience, it was our second time around. I have raved about it to my friends and colleagues and would certainly attend again, given the opportunity. Great work TSO!
