    Schlagobers

by DebbieLou on 2024-01-01Jane Mallett Theatre - Toronto

A delightful fun evening. A marvelous cast, really putting their all into it, and with a pair of leads in Hanna & Danilo who have a wonderful chemistry and can vocalise with the best of them. Hats off to Guillermo Silva-Marin who always finds a way to mount a sparkling production.

    Good

by Jeff on 2023-10-26Jane Mallett Theatre - Toronto

Evidently they put all their efforts into getting some good singers. The set (singular) was perfunctory.

    Expected a little more

by Favmusical on 2023-10-25Jane Mallett Theatre - Toronto

I enjoyed the performances of the individual actors as they were top notch in their field. The one downside was the lack of props. In my opinion it drew away the professionalism of the cast.A nice scene of the ocean would have helped.

Pirates of Penzance was a crowd pleaser

by polley on 2023-10-25Jane Mallett Theatre - Toronto

The Toronto Operetta company production of Pirates of Penzance was energetically performed, thoroughly enjoyable and true to the Gilbert and Sullivan tradition. Can't wait to see another G and S on their schedule we will attend for sure!

Great Singing and A Fun Show

by Sally on 2023-10-25Jane Mallett Theatre - Toronto

The show is lovely—G and S silliness, and badly needed in this world! The singing is lovely—especially the show stopping coloratura soprano lead! However the movement on stage is frequently awkward and could use some crisp choreography and dance lessons. And—please could the charming chorus of ladies have pretty long white skirts instead of blue jeans??

    Toronto Operetta’s Pirates of Penzance

by Martie on 2023-10-24Jane Mallett Theatre - Toronto

I’m a life long fan of the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. And Toronto Operetta’s Pirates of Penzance was first rate. The soloists’ voices were excellent and well suited to their roles. The acting was even and good. The orchestra was first rate (I especially enjoyed the flautist). The set worked well I can’t find a single negative thing to say about the performance I saw. Thank you for such a delightful evening!

    So much fun

by Barbie1959 on 2023-10-24Jane Mallett Theatre - Toronto

It was a wonderful lively performance. It was a nice touch too alter the lyrics of the modern major general include something about local politics. The orchestra was tight and played a small part in the show.

    Very Well Done!!

by Carol J on 2023-10-24Jane Mallett Theatre - Toronto

By far the best presentation of "Pirates"I have ever seen (and I've played Mabel myself, twice!). The acting and singing were both strong and well executed. My 3 guests were blown away and will not hesitate to accept the next request to accompany. Well done all! Carol J

    An Enjoyable Song-filled Afternoon

by Lynne on 2023-02-14Edward Jackman Centre - Toronto

. The songs were great—from an era when songwriters wrote tunes that were hum-able. The singers were all excellent, animated and responsive to a very appreciative (and “close-up”!) Cabaret audience.Even my friend withthe reputed “tin ear” loved it!
