Beyond Amazing!
Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto
Aside from his own virtuosity, Legrand also demonstrated his ability to play in the styles of other jazz greats. I was pleased to hear that Oscar Peterson's widow was present to hear his sound. I would travel a considerable distance for a reprise!

Interesting concert
Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto
It was my and my Mom pleasure to attend this concert. 2nd part of concert was almost perfect, however, would be better if all songs would be in French, not in English and if singer will help Mr. Legrand at first part of the concert as well as second part of the concert.

Wonderful concert of the wonderful artist!
Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto
This night was a great of experience of discovery for myself Michel Legrand as a jazz pianist and even more exciting meeting with the music of my very young years (music for French movies of 70s).

Michel Legrand was amazing
Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto
My only wish was that he did not sign his songs in English. Even though I don't understand French well , the songs sound so much better in French. Othwerwise, it was excellent - he is a genius!

Michel Legrand
Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto
Great jazz musician! Voice was so so - but I think he was sick. The harpist was phenomenal! At the end, Legrand did not want to do an Encore but his musicians stayed on stage so public was asking for it.

very disappointed
Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto
Michel Legrand is a talented composer. Beautiful songs, interesting music… However we were extremely disappointed with the concert. We wish Mr. Legrand didn’t sing… I hope someone tells him that he should invite guest to sing his songs… It wasn’t only other opinion. People sitting behind us were talking about the same thing. Mr. Legrand, please only play the music, do not sing!

Legrand is unforgettable, Pelchat is energizing!
Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto
One of the best concerts I have ever attended. Legrand's wit, technique, and delivery are impecable. The maitre at his best and just like fine wine - only better with years. Pelchat is able to bring out the emotion in every single Legrand's song and interprets them in a way that touches the audience with every single note. A+!

Legrand not so grand!
Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto
I cannot say that I was very impressed with Legrand last night at the Winter Garden. Honestly, I felt as if I was attending an 80+ dollar high-school talent show rather than a performance from an Oscar-winning composer who scored for 200 movies. First off, the decor and lighting were flat and un-inspiring. A simple velvety curtain in the background and red, blue, green lights flashing at random, with no rhyme or reason. At least if he had put some clips from some of the movies or additional audio-visual enhancements, these would have made some of the songs bearable. Which brings me to the music itself. Now I have nothing against Legrand's skills on the piano (no reproach whatsoever as the man even at 77 can still tickle the ivories with precision and flair); however, he cannot (and should not) sing. He insisted on singing most of the songs on the playbill, and the falsetto in his voice just made me cringe. And to add insult to injury, the majority of his French songs (the best known ones included) were performed in English. Furthermore the back up performers (particularly the bass player) did nothing to enhance his music. Had it not been for Pelchat and Michel, really this night would have been a complete wash-out. Overall, this performance was no better than what you would experience in a cafe or jazz bar for just the price of a drink or a cup of coffee.
