    Video Games Live

by mojomanjim on 2009-07-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I had heard about the awesomeness that is Video Games Live. My friends had stated how much they had enjoyed it, what they thought was there best moment, and basically had just cooed about it for weeks on end after it had finished. This year I took my girlfriend to go see it for her birthday. What a birthday present it was. At a few hours long, it was the most fun I had in ages. The mix of awesome music, with live choir, really made an impact. The presenters were totally interactive, the evening was great, and there was enough air-con to remove the unwashed nerd smell. I would thoroughly reccomend it to anyone who likes gaming, classical music, opera, rock, or if you are a nerd, all of it in a 3 hour segment of awesome.

    Video Games Live

by au8relius on 2009-07-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This event is fantastic! Sure some games come with a soundtrack you can purchase, but it's an entirely different experience to hear the scores live, far more powerful. You don't even really have to be a gamer to attend this event as it's the love of the music in the games that draw the fans to this event. It's one event that you can go to over and over again even if it were all the same songs, which it's not. Every event is different from all the others. I would definately highly recommend attending a video games live event.

    VGL FTW

by Fidget on 2009-07-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

An excellent mix of music and video games. Perfect for those who love either, though for those who aren't really into video games some of the jokes may go over your head and the guitar hero bit will probably seem superfluous. The orchestra was top notch, the music selections were fantastic, and I would definitely reccommend this event.

    good music

by someguy on 2009-07-09Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

The show was very good, I am not a huge game fan but there was enough music that i recognized that it allowed me to really enjoy the evening. It is quite amazing to hear all of the good music that is incorperated into the video games these days, and like the host said " video games are the radio of the 21st century". This was a excellent show, even if you did not know the games from which the music was taken

    Video Games Live Review

by facemelter on 2009-07-09Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

This concert exceeded my expectations, even as a hardcore gamer. The presentation was top notch, and the Symphony and Choir were absolutely amazing! Tommy Tallirico and Jack Wall made it fun by getting the audience to participate and cheer. This is no sitting down and let's listen to the Symphony kind of event. The range of game music was great. Everything from the classics like Super Mario, Zelda, Street Fighter, to modern titles like Halo, Metal Gear Solid, and Final Fantasy. There's a bit for everyone, no matter if you were gaming on an Atari 2600, or on a present day PS3. There were also giveaways, contests, and booths showcasing games on both the PS3 and 360 (all playable). It had a very warm and friendly atmosphere as it was a show for all age groups. They also had a Guitar Hero competition where anyone could compete for a chance at prizes, with the winner coming onstage to play the game while the Symphony played. All in all, a great concert, and I will definitely check them out the next time they come to Winnipeg.
