About

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Vince Gill has become one of the most celebrated country artists of all-time, selling over 24 million albums throughout his career and winning 20 Grammy Awards, more than any other male country artist in history. In 2013, he played for ticket holders in concert across North America and the U.K. and is scheduled to tour with George Strait in 2014. Born in 1957 in Oklahoma, he learned how to play several instruments including banjo and guitar as a child and played in a bluegrass band in high school. He joined the country band Pure Prairie League in the late 1970s before leaving the group in 1982 to pursue his solo career. He put out four solo albums in the 1980s, including 1984’s Turn Me Loose and 1989’s When I Call Your Name, before releasing the double platinum 1991 album Pocket Full of Gold. His next album, 1992’s I Still Believe in You, reached No. 10 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and sold over three million copies with hit singles “What the Cowgirls Do” and “Whenever You Come Around.” Gill’s 1993 Christmas album Let There Be Peace on Earth also went platinum, and 1994’s When Love Finds You peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard chart, his most successful album selling over four million copies. More commercial and critical success followed with 1996’s High Lonesome Sound and 1998’s The Key, and his next five solo albums reached the country top five, including 2000’s Let's Make Sure We Kiss Goodbye and 2006’s These Days. The Country Music Association has bestowed Gill with a total of 18 CMA Awards including two Entertainer of the Year awards and five Male Vocalist Awards, and in 2007, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

A real showman. Knows how to get the audience involved. Talks to us like he's known us for years. Not afraid to tell us the most intimate details of his life. That's why the audience loves him.

  • Vince was invincible .... totally awesome!!!!!!!!!

Well, what can I say ... Vince was awesome. I have seen Vince in concert many many times and he never ceases to amaze me! Friday night at Fallsview was a difficult night for Vince. He was very emotional, a friend and co-writer had passed away that day. Many of us cried along with him. What a concert he put on anyway, even dealing with his grief! He got 3 standing ovations from the audience ... well deserved! For anyone who hasn't seen Vince in concert, here's a little description - his music is fabulous, his voice, guitar playing, his band - the whole package! And let me tell you .. he is a funny funny guy. He likes to tell stories through the show and what makes me smile so much is his own laughter at his own jokes - you simply have to laugh along with him!! He talks adoringly about his wife Amy, his children, even his dogs, which makes you love him even more! Can't wait to see him again!!

  • Vince Gill at his best!

I saw Vince Gill about 15 years ago in Toronto..I thought he was great then, but he was even better on April 29th, 2010. It was a nice venue (Niagara Fallsview Casino) comfortable seating-which made the show enjoyable. He sang beautifully and the two voices that sang back up for him, harmonized beautifully. It sounded just as good, if not better than his albums. His back up band, seemed like a bunch of guys, that have been performing for years, and just seemed to be right at home and happy to play. Vince's guitar playing was fantastic as usual. He spoke to the audience, like he was all of our friends from over the years. Shared how songs came about, who they were written with, and told us about the Chinese buffet he had had for dinner... Vince seems like a real down to earth kind of guy and i think he genuinly enjoyed playing for us all. Would go to see him again.

  • Good but disappointing.

All-in-all Vince Gill is Vince Gill complete with his newfound eye glasses. I found the concert a touch too loud (a common problem at the Avalon Theatre) and I wasn't crazy over the song selection. It goes to show you that you can't please everyone. The ultimate question might be: "would I attend another Vince Gill concert at the Avalon and the answer would be no". It's worthy of mention that Vince made reference (while struggling to hold tears back it would seem) to a friend having passed away on the day of the concert and that may have had an influence on his enthusiam.

  • Vince Gill is an amazing and so talented performer

Vince Gill put on an unforgettable show April 30th at Avalon Ballroom. It was our first time at this venue and we were very impressed. We had great seatsand had no problem seeing or hearing the performer. We cannot wait to see him again and Niagara would be our first choice. Thank You Fallsview and especially Thank you Vince.

It was a great show. I like it when he talks to the crowd and tells little things about a song he is about to sing. He sang a song about his dad and it was very emotional for him. He joked about getter older and needing glasses. Over all it was a great show! Thanks Vince

  • Better than ever.

Just the way a concert should be. No glitz and glamour. Just good singing, good music and good humour. Two hours of the best entertainment I have seen in a long time. Interactive with audience. Good jokes. Still as sweet as every. Class act.

  • Vince was great!

by kaddyguy on 2010-04-30The Avalon Ballroom Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara FallsRating: 5 out of 5

Vince put on a great show, singing many of his big hits. His voice is just as good to hear as it was 30 years ago! The Avalon Ballroom is a wonderful venue for such a concert because it is more intimate, and not huge like the Casino Rama Theatre where you need to watch the artist on the big TV screen to see facial expressions. We will attend more events at Niagara even though it is a three hour drive from home.

  • Vince Gill rocks and rocks and rocks.

A fabulous, intimate and personal evening with a great mix of old and some new songs. Nice blend of different styles of music. Would highly recommend attending another one of Vince Gill's concerts. Unfortunately the design of the seating in the Avalon Ballroom does not allow all to view the stage at a comfortable angle.

  • Gill Turns Tunes at the Turning Stone

by Dixiegirl6 on 2010-04-30Turning Stone Resort & Casino Showroom - VeronaRating: 5 out of 5

It's hard to pigeon hole Vince Gill. He can rock with the best, pick his way through a country tune, or touch your soul with a smooth and silky ballad. This concert was 90 minutes of pure VG delight!! I've seen many performers sing live only to wonder how the heck they became a success. Vince's voice captivates you from the first song and leaves you wanting more when his show comes to an end. He's funny (he told a few stories about his personal life) talented and seems to be an all-around great guy - I'd love to have him in for dinner!!!! Awesome band too - have to give them credit as well. It was my first time at The Turning Stone Resort Casino. It's a beautiful resort with a fabulous show room where EVERY seat is a good seat. (Nice golf course too.) If you can catch Vince Gill live, do it ! Only wish he would come to Ottawa, Canada.

  • Vince is beyond amazing

This is only the second time I have seen Vince and I am sure that there are other die hard fans who have seen him many more times. He never fails to impress. His show was fantastic and his rapport with the audience makes him feel like someone you have known all your life. I will definitely see him again if he is back this way.

I'm an old rock 'n' roller and my wife dragged me along to see one of her favorite artists. Vince put on a show that showcased his music and the man behind it, I have a real appreciation for who and what this remarkable man has accomplished. I definite catch his show next time his through town.
