  • Warren Haynes with Chessboxers and Gill Landry

    by dale0h on 2015-10-26Ryman Auditorium - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

We travelled from Ontario to Nashville and were fortunate to include The Ryman Auditorium in our trip. The show was over and above what we expected. The Ryman is a wonderful place to take in a concert and Warren Haynes and friends delivered a fantastic show. The Chessboxers opened followed by Gill Landry and then Warren Haynes this spanned 4 1/2 hours. Chris Stapleton joined Warren for a rendition of "In The Pines" and then Bela Fleck came on stage for one of the best versions of " All Along The Watchtower" we have ever heard. Mr. Pearson then came on stage to duel with Warren. The encore with all musicians playing a cover of "Get Behind The Mule" by Tom Waits ended the evening just past midnight. The sound and view from the balcony were both excellent and I would highly recommend seeing Warren Haynes and taking in a performance at The Ryman.

  • The love of Music!!!

The whole band was very obviously in love with what they do!! Extremely entertaining without the flashbomb style that distracts from honest talent of the artist. Outstanding!!! Make the time to see this!!! you won't be disappointed, gauranteed!!!! Warren ROCKS!

  • A Different Side of Warren

by CdnBrother on 2011-09-16Queen Elizabeth Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Warren Haynes showed us a diffenent angle on Wednesday night. Proving he is not only prolific in the quality and quantity of music he produces but also diverse. Still the same was his unbeleivable playing and expressive vocals, what was different was the pallet they were delivered on. Not the hard rocking tunes of the Mule or the storied southern blues of the Brothers but a soulful delivery created by a great sounding band of acclaimed players. I've seem Warren dozens of times in different places and times and had kind of seen it all. So this change in direction of sound was a wonderfully refressing and exciting. I didn't know many of the songs played so just expereinced it with an open mind and WOW what a great set of music it was. Fresh, exciting, surprising but comfortably familiar. The cozy confines of the QE Theatre, a great venue, was a perfect back drop for this laid back but intense experience. Warren's playing was great, the interplay with the other band members seemless and fun. Warren appeared relaxed and looked like he was really having fun, not always the case when he was grinding his way through another Mule show. Overall loved the sound and the show, I'll go for a trip down any Warren Haynes musical adventure anytime. Just wish I could download a recording of the show.

  • Great Show, Great Venue

by McGanahanSkjellyfetti on 2011-09-16Queen Elizabeth Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Venue - Having never seen a show at the Queen Elizabeth Center, I was very impressed with the small intimate feeling of the hall, the laid back atmosphere and the great attitude of the staff. The Band - Warren's band is dynamite, a great funky New Orleans or almost Motown blues/jazz band reminiscent of the Little Feat sound, combined with Warren's incredible guitar licks and voice made for a great night out. The Sound was excellent, the bass shivered through the body on the opening notes of the show and did not let up. Thanks Warren!!!
