    Absolute mockery and theft

    by J on 2022-06-21MTELUS - Montreal

Yann Tiersen advertised this tour as the Kerber tour and with a guest. Instead, we got about 5 minutes of remixed Kerber, no Charlie Cunningham, a terrible opener, no piano & extremely loud, unpleasant electronic music accompanied by blinding strobe lights. Moreover, he showed up more than 30-40 minutes late only to have to start the show with some tuning. I love Yann's music, but this show was a joke and we should be refunded. Yann seemed ignorant to the fact that half the audience was gone 30 minutes into the show.

    Disappointed

The show was delayed and no one apologized. I was expecting a piano on stage. I left after 10 minutes. total waste of money

    Bring Earplugs. Classical? No!

    by RG on 2022-06-18

Lots of noise. Music belongs in a contemporary museum exhibit imo. Not the Amelie experience I'd hoped for. I counted 5 people plugging their ears throughout the Montreal show. Bring ear protection to be able to enjoy. Or, you'll probably leave.

    Take it or leave it

by Nearing5 on 2012-05-05The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

A show shechuled for a Wednesday night should not start at 10:15. Waited a long time for the main band to start. Tiersen was very good, nice light show and array of musical Instruments and sounds. The opening band was alright, but a little too simplistic, and repetitive. The evening would have been better if it was better planned out evening. Was rather upsetting because it's such a nice looking club.

I was expecting him to play his accordion and some songs from the Amelie soundtrack, but did not happen.

    Fantastic show

by SoapSoup on 2012-05-04The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

From start to finish, the show was great. The opening band Felix Oh Holy Molar went very well with the Yann Tiersen brigade. The lead singer has a fabulous voice. It's a shame they ran out of CDs. Yann Tiersen was, as always, amazing. Even though the crowd doesn't LOOK overly enthusiastic (though they sound it!), the band gives 100% of their energy. Most of the band plays different instruments, which makes the live performance so fantastic to watch. They still pull out viola favourites like Sur Le Fil and Le Quartier, but don't go expecting ancient material like Amelie (as fabulous as it is, give the new stuff a shot, it's great!).

    Amazing Event!

by Yuriy on 2012-05-04The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

The live show was great! I expected something quite like the soundtrack to "Amelie", but it was a rock concert involved classical instruments (e.g. a violin). I will definitely attend the show again.

    so Frenchy

by Ocep on 2012-05-03Métropolis - Montreal

Good music after an hour of waiting in vain. Too bad the vocal was unclear. Hoping to hear his last hits, I was disappointed to find at the end that the concert was intended to promote his newly relased album.

    Genious

by sophino on 2011-12-17Métropolis - Montréal

Yann Tiersen is such a unique musician. This performance was mesmerizing. Armed with a full chorus, Tiersen blew away the crowd with songs from his new album Dust Lane. Highly recommended!

    Unexpected, but phenomenal

by Anonymous on 2011-02-26Métropolis - Montreal

I only knew of Yann Tiersen's piano compositions prior to attending the concert (Comptine d'un autre ete, La valse d'Amelie, etc) and expected to be hearing him play those pieces. Instead, they played pieces from his new album Dust Lane, an intelligent blend of rock and Yann's mastery of several instruments. One of the best concerts I've ever been to, I would highly recommend this concert.

I wasn't expecting his sound to be rock, but it was still really great, particularly his awesome violin solo!

He started very late. No need to have an opening band when you already starting an hr and half later.

    Yawn Tiersen

by thecleverpup on 2011-02-24The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

I guess I wasn't prepared. I didn't know Tiersen's catalogue of work and I wanted to hear the Amelie soundtrack. I didn't get it. I got a lot of pompous, dark, tuneless music. The guy's a musical genius but one song sounded exactly like the other. So what if he can play hard on the fiddle, so what if he frays his strings all the time? Does that mean it's good? I had a different vision of how the evening was going to unfold and I didn't happen. I thought I'd be weeping at the loveliness of the Amelie soundtrack. But even if the guy was a complete unknown to me I wouldn't have expected to be bored. I definitely wouldn't have paid $59 to be bored. He didn't engage the audience or introduce anyone. It felt like he was thinking "I AM SO GREAT, if you don't get me I feel sorry for you" Almost ruined the memory of my favourite movie for me. Get over yourself Yann.
