About

YEASAYER IN CONCERT:

The members of psychedelic rock group Yeasayer have been defying the mainstream with their experimental synths, unique three-part harmonies, and melodic sound since making their debut in 2006 with All Hour Cymbals. The band's passion radiates through the crowd as they play fan favorites like "Ambling Alp" and "O.N.E." with a fervor that can't be matched. Their sonically innovative, hook-filled tracks are layered with detail, and they truly come alive for fans at the band’s intense live shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brooklyn-based act Yeasayer started performing together in 2006 and began earning serious attention a year later when they made their first festival appearance at SXSW. They made their full-length album debut in 2007 with All Hour Cymbals, which received rave reviews from publications like Pitchfork and Entertainment Weekly for its genre-bending sound and led to opening spots on tours with Beck and MGMT. The band continued their success with 2010's Odd Blood -- a record that peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart and included several songs that were featured on popular TV shows. Their 2012 album Fragrant World led to a number of sold-out headlining dates, high-profile festival appearances, and late night talk show performances, and they continued to earn hundreds of thousands of fans along the way. With their continually evolving sound and impressive showmanship, Yeasayer amazes concertgoers with their dance-worthy collection whenever they take the stage.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"This was my first time watching Yeasayer live and they didn't disappoint! They had a good mix of upbeat/chill songs and played the favorites. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but their mix of styles translates well in a live setting."

"Yeasayer sounded just as great live as they do on their records. The energy in the room was infectious, and I'd definitely see them again when they come through town."

"It was a great show, Yeasayer especially - great music always, but in concert they are truly spectacular. Beautiful stage set and light show, but it always felt like a complement to the music. the new drummer (standing up the entire set) is awesome too!"

    The most engaging show

by lykkelifannn on 2012-11-13Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I am absolutely in love with Yeasayer. I have always been a fan of their music and was able to catch them at Osheaga. I figured that their own show would be just as good if not better and I was completely blown away. This band LOVES what they do. You can tell by how they play, you can't help but enjoy yourself. The musical performance is phenomenal and the production value of their concert was amazing. The light show was very interesting and definitely set the mood. I will go see them everytime they are in Toronto.

they were great, though I found their set to be a bit short. Still they played all the "hits" off their albums.

Patience pays off as show builds

    by lsteven2 on 2010-05-02Lee's Palace - Toronto

Yeasayer came on a little slow, and there's no traditional "frontman with chemistry" running the show here so it was tough to figure out who to watch. But after a few songs I was reminded how original (and great) their songwriting is. Halfway through the set I was 100% on board, and by the end of the show they had the crowd in the palm of their hands.

    Yeasayer-even better live!

    by ra1962 on 2010-05-02Lee's Palace - Toronto

Yeasayer totally blew us away. The cds are so layered with sound and technique, that we weren't sure how that would translate live. We were wonderfully surprised by the amazing live show. The band is extremely professional, tight , cohesive, and in charge. This is not to say that they were bland or sterile; far from it. Yeasayer feels the groove and feeds off the vibes from the crowd. The slower songs were tranquil, serene and hypnotizing. The quick tempo songs were a blast of an intriguing mix of classic prog rock, r & b , jazz, 80's dance, and current dance music. Lee's Palace was a party, and we didn't want it to stop! Very well done gentlemen, very well done. Please come back to Toronto-SOON!

    Not to be missed!

    by mathu75 on 2010-05-02Lee's Palace - Toronto

I have a completely new respect for Yeasayer after seeing them live. If you have even the slightest inclination to check these guys out, I would highly recommend that you do so. You will definitely not be disappointed. Barring any unforeseen event such as the end of the world, or simply the end of my world, I will be at their next Toronto show without a doubt. These guys are brilliant!

    Great band, poor sound.

by CaptainAwesome on 2010-04-22Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

The title says it all. Yeasayer is very talented band with some fantastic songs but unfortunately those songs weren't very clear on this night because the sound mix was terrible. The vocals were muffled and all the instruments seemed to bleed together, making the show not a wall of sound, but more a wall of noise.
