Vancouver Canucks History

The Vancouver Canucks started play in 1970, entering the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. Vancouver has been to the Stanley Cup Final on three occasions, though they lost to the New York Islanders in 1982, the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Despite humble beginnings, the Canucks continued to develop. With the arrival of three key players — Captain Trevor Linden, netminder Kirk McLean, and "the Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, the Canucks had a winning Playoff run season — making it to the 1994 finals.

The Canucks continued to acquire superstars like Alexander Mogilny and Markus Näslund, and while the following years meant a series of losses, it allowed for the team to draft Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who would go on to lead the Canucks to Presidents' Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, as well as their finals appearance in 2011.

Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena

The Vancouver Canucks play their home games at the 475,000-square foot Rogers Arena, which also played host to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games where Sidney Crosby scored the “Golden Goal.” A staple of downtown Vancouver, the Canucks played their first game at the arena on October 9, 1995. Other notable events that have taken place at the arena include the 1998 NHL All-Star Game, 2019 NHL Entry Draft, and in October 2002 when Queen Elizabeth II dropped the ceremonial first puck during an NHL exhibition game between the Canucks and San Jose Sharks. Additionally, the arena played host to Games 1, 2, 5, and 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals.

Such an amazing experience even though it was only a watch party but the set up was like an actual game. The arena was buzzing and this is a great way to give other fans opportunity to experience the playoffs.

    Amazing

by Pp on 2024-05-17Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Canucks are a great team but need to maintain lead if they get it or if trailing behind just keep attacking the opponent goal so that it creates pressure and they get goal.

Canucks/Oilers 4 th game watch party

by Muggins on 2024-05-17Rogers Arena - Vancouver

There is nothing much I can say about this event accept brilliant+++ with the exception of course of not winning but hey we won game 5. From the man on the elevator who was excellent every time I got on the elevator so pleasant and upbeat to the 50/50 volunteers, food and drink personnel to the group that made sure the bathrooms were spotless. The kids that finally got to actually go see their heroes that they wouldn't normally get to see as games are cost prohibitive to tge entertainment for the kids. The crowds great and the police exceptional. Bring it on Game 6 - fingers crossed i manage to get tickets again. Job well done.

    ELECTRIFYING!!

by CANUCKARY on 2024-05-17Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Loved the "Viewing Party"event on Tuesday, May 14th! It was so much fun; atmosphere was electric; everyone was there for the one purpose of Cheering on The Team! It felt like a Home-Game, but with affordable tickets! There should be a re-set of how expensive tickets are for the live games! So that everyone can afford to be there at Rogers Arena!

    Fantastic!

by The Don on 2024-05-17Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The atmosphere as always, was electric. Just like being at a ‘real’ game! The jumbo tron gives you a great viewing angle from just about anywhere you sit. And to have a playoff towel on EVERY seat was super! Whoever thought of the idea of a viewing party, not to mention the affordability and charity benefits should be awarded with a promotion! Genius idea!!!!
