Big Mama! Tickets

Essentially a one-woman show backed by an excellent trio (piano, drums and fabulous guitar), Ms.Richardson tells the life story of blues legend Wille May Thornton through a conversation with the audience and impressive vocals and musical offerings. Ms. Richardson delivers a persuasive performance about this amazing singer-songwriter. She may not be at the absolute peak of her singing skills but she delivers a wonderful performance.

The whole show was terrific. The music, sound and story were unforgettable and I learned a lot about Blues history. Because it was a hockey night it wasn't full, so we were offered mid row seats close to the stage.

If you like the Blues, have an interest in the history of music or just want to hear some great singing and story, then don't miss Big Mama! The Willie Mae Thornton Story. An outstanding cast with not only Jackie Richardson belting out the Blues with the kind of passion and feeling that made Big Mama herself so famous but with the musical backup of Tim Williams on guitar, Ron Casat on keyboard and Kevin Belzher on drums that did more than justice to the music! A wonderful show.

The Willie May Thornton Story was an excellent performance that mixed interesting dialogue with some mean blues.

What an awesome show from start to finish! Loved it. Some very lovely intimate touches- sitting on the stairs etc. it was a wonderful tribute -a bluesy history lesson.

What a voice, she had her microphone on her waist, and we could hear her clear as day from the nosebleed section. A must see for any blues lover

Jackie Richardson is an amazing talent who can sing and act. She has "IT" in spades. The English Theatre should bring her back every year in a different production 'cause you would attract more subscribers.

Only 90 mins but outstanding. Music was great. Her voice and personality shone through.Band was great.
