    USA wins Bronze Medal

by MarliesFan123098 on 2015-07-28RYA-Ryerson Athletic Centre - Toronto

We arrived at the venue more than an hour before the event started and headed straight in. No line what-so-ever so all we had to do was go through the metal detector and head to our seats. We were seated right along the baseline and behind the Dominican Republic's bench, in section E3. Our seats were in the second row which just made the experience 10 times better. The game was very exciting even though it started by being a blowout. Dominican Republic was leading 61-41 at some point during the 3rd quarter but that was about to change...team USA was down by just 11 at the start of the 4th and from there on they went on an almost unstoppable run, winning 87-82. However, I do have 2 "pet-peeves" about the experience. 1: We weren't lucky enough to see Canada play. 2: There were more people sitting behind the basket than there was sitting at half-court, How'd that happen?

Great Venue and an OK game

by Dancey on 2015-07-28RYA-Ryerson Athletic Centre - Toronto

Ryerson Athletics Centre is a great venue for the Pan Am Basketball finals. The outcome may have not be to my liking but everything was easy and accessible. Food, washrooms and entry into the centre was easy. The seats were right at the back. Being in row four I thought these were better seats, much like most of the people in the higher sections. Seat number should probably be revisited as it's very misleading; but i'm glad I got to see the Basketball finals. There really is no bad seat in the place but it was not what I was expecting at all.

    Basketball Ryerson

by dreadznot on 2015-07-27RYA-Ryerson Athletic Centre - Toronto

From the perspective of a spectator of basketball, the Ryerson venue is superb. There are no "nosebleed" seats. You don't need binoculars. It's a wonderful, intimate setting in which to really see the game. Pan Am wheelchair basketball is coming up. Get a ticket, it will be exciting to watch.

Good seats at one end of the court so kind of hard to see but overall seeing two great basketball games was awesome!

Great sport not so great organization

by TorontoHunter on 2015-07-26RYA-Ryerson Athletic Centre - Toronto

Saw Argentina and DR play a very well matched game. Lots of good defence and offence play from both teams. I was surprised by the number of empty seat considering the difficulty I had in acquiring good seats.

Terrible Seats, but Great Customer Service

by BabyP on 2015-07-24Ryerson - Toronto

We bought the $25 tickets for this event, because when we went online, this was all that was available days before the event (Apparently, they don't open up all the tickets for sale online prior to the event, which is very annoying). Once we got there and took our seats (Section SE2, Row 1, Seat 3&4), we were horrified at the view. There were 2 sets of rails blocking our view of the court (likely because these seem to be temporary seats that have been added to the venue to increase capacity), it felt like we were watching the game from a jail cell (see picture attached). It is totally disgusting that these seats are being sold to patrons, at least the first 3-4 rows of the SE sections should not be sold. We sat for about 2 minutes, and decided it was unacceptable, so politely complained to the usher and supervisor, and were promptly moved to new seats. According to them, people had been complaining about those seats throughout the games, so they were prepare to relocate at least some patrons - thankfully we were some of the first to make the request... (yet they continue to sell tickets for this section and are taking peoples' money - I feel bad for the people who have stayed in that section to watch any of the basketball game). Despite being 'sold out' they thankfully had spare tickets on hand to move us - if you are seated in this section - request to be moved as soon as you get there. The customer service by the on-site staff was great, but I'm disappointed at the Pan Am organizers for continuing to sell tickets for such terrible seats.

TO had handled the PanAm traffic very well

by TO2015 on 2015-07-24RYA-Ryerson Athletic Centre - Toronto

we took transit to go watch the game, every volunteer is cheerful, welcoming, and helpful. Free transit is a huge plus. The venue is perfect for this size of the game. The free drinking water is a great idea.

    Good Entertainment for the Price!

by pumpkin2 on 2015-07-24RYA-Ryerson Athletic Centre - Toronto

The level of play was excellent and it was certainly great value for the price. It was very helpful to have Pan Am officials and volunteers almost everywhere from the time you got off the GO train until you were at the venue. You couldn't get lost because the signage was excellent. Whoever planned the people moving aspect of the Pan Am Games, did an outstanding job! The food at the Ryerson Athletic Centre would be my only criticism. There just wasn't anything even remotely healthy to eat and if you had a dairy or gluten allergy, there wasn't anything one could eat. With the big push in our elementary and secondary schools to have only healthy choices on their menus AND Loblaws right next door, I would have thought that some healthy alternatives would have been possible. Not being able to leave the venue and not being allowed to bring in food, made for a LONG day of basketball with only popcorn to eat!
