About

In 2022, The Gaslight Anthem returned to the stage for the first time in four years.

Unlike those shows (which celebrated the ten-year anniversary of their breakthrough LP The '59 Sound), last year's tour explored every corner of the band's discography in festival and headline dates around the world.

Having recorded their first album in nearly a decade and with a new single "Positive Charge" out now, these 2023 shows mark a new beginning for The Gaslight Anthem.

    Not Bad But Not Fantastic

by FreddieMercury on 2010-07-16The Fillmore Detroit - Detroit

I am a big sound guy and I found the sound muffled on all the bands. When the lead singer tells a story, you should be able to understand it. I caught some words, here and there but that was about it. Maybe turn down the reverb and turn up the treble so fans can here what the guy has to say and sing. Over all I thought The Hold Steady was the best..they were tight and knew what they were doing...Lots of hype for Gas Light Anthem, but it all seemed like the same song played over and over again. Change it up a bit guys, maybe add a key board player and a Sax and don't have all the songs start with a drum beat...you have one catchy guitar riff for one song and you need to add to it. The Whigs were good....just muffled. Tim Barry had a good voice but the guitar was too thin....and of course his voice was muffled too, but i did hear him talk about Gabrielle and the benefit he wants to do for that and I wish him all the best in that quest. Remember, Fat Bottom Girls make the Rocking World Go Round! F.M.

The gaslight never came on during this show!

by Rbeau on 2010-07-15Sound Academy - Toronto

Excellent show! Great venue. Gaslight stepped on the accelerator and never let off. Only complaint that I have is that they didn't play long enough!

    Great Night, Awesome Tunes

by TheDude on 2009-10-14Kool Haus - Toronto

Great show. The opening acts were great. I really enjoyed Murder By Death. But the Gaslight Anthem really stole the night (as they should!) And the 5-song encore was the icing on the cake. An all-around awesome show. Rock and Roll is still alive!

    Stellar Show!

by calliopaeia on 2009-10-14Kool Haus - Toronto

What a great line up! You could tell that all four bands had similar influences because the music was in the same genre.. but I especially liked Murder by Death. The music was really dynamic and the low tones of the singer's voice coupled with the muted sounds of the Cello really married well with the rest of the music. And don't get me started with Gaslight Anthem. You can really tell that they are playing music that they still love. The lead singer sang as if he could still feel the lyrics, the guitarist was just superb, the drummer was really varied and the bassist was a great showman. Really great show. I was really surprised by how well they owned the stage.

    Solid Performance

by Unraveled on 2009-10-14Kool Haus - Toronto

Gaslight Anthem came out and put on a solid show. It was clear that the lead singer was having an absolute blast as you could not wipe the massive smile off his face the whole night. The sound was fantastic and the set list ranged across both albums and EP. The rest of the band had little to no interaction with the crowd but it didn't much matter. Great crowd participation all night long. If you are even a moderate fan of this band, go see them and they will turn you into a fanatic.

    Gaslight Worth the Wait

by alejandromartinez on 2009-10-14Kool Haus - Toronto

Gaslight didn't appear on stage until roughly 10:30p after the preceding three bands finished their respective sets. The first band (Broadway Calls) had heart but sounded a bit like simple plan to me. The second act (Jesse Malin) was terrible and somewhat narcissistic / pretentious with their terrible hair cuts and swagger. The third act (Murder by Death) was quite good, after the first two I expected an amateur showing but they proved otherwise. Gaslight....ohhh Gaslight. They came through in spades with a good range in songs and fantastic stage presence (very Springsteen-like on stage, great energy and many smiles). They were definitely worth the wait till 10:30p to see them. They finished the set around 12:30ish so they definitely put on a show worth every penny/second it took to get to that moment.

opening bands weren't good and the head liner came on too late. But the head liner was incredible, great performance.

by Redvixen on 2009-09-29MACEWAN BALLROOM - CALGARY

I am a fairly new fan to The Gaslight Anthem and the bands that pre-ceeded them this night...but I loved it. The Mac Ballroom was a great venue for the concert! The Gaslight Anthem was even better then I expected!!! I look forward to familiarizing myself with their music even more and look forward to future concerts!!

    Wicked

by Paine on 2009-09-28MACEWAN BALLROOM - CALGARY

Definitely one of the best concerts I've been to this year, and I go to many. All the bands were great! Plenty of crowd interaction with the bands. The music was incredible, I had not previously heard any of the openers before but now I'd say they are some of my new favorite bands, I even bought their music at the show. If any of these guys come to your town, go, it would be well worth it. You will probably end up being a bigger fan after the show, like me.

    GA...Good and short.

by tigermonkey on 2009-09-28MACEWAN BALLROOM - CALGARY

Stoked about Gaslight Anthem coming on, but after almost a 45 minute change over the energy in the room was a little low. When the moment finally arrived, a good time was had by all. Singing and dancing from the rail right to the back step. Just wish the set had lasted more than the 45 minutes or so, only when it ended did I realize why it was only a $20 show. Openers: Missed FT. The Loved Ones were great, the lead has a very clear voice and vocals which is good when you've never heard of them before and the interaction with the crowd was entertaining. Unfortunately, the best thing about Murder By Death was when a 4 ft. speaker (like their set) crashed (and burned) and fell off the stage mid-song. Tip for MBD's lead singer, sing into the mic! Sarah was awesome and pretty much the only reason to go see MBD in my opinion.

    Great band!

by Kimbahley on 2009-09-28MACEWAN BALLROOM - CALGARY

Frank Turner was great, and while The Loved Ones didn't exactly command your attention they were okay. Murder By Death had a good band but a lead singer that annoyed the hell out of me. I have to ask, what was with the moshers? Or worse, the moshers that apparently thought this was a 1976 Sex Pistols music video. Yet, The Gaslight Anthem made it all worth it; they had energy, charisma and their sound is ever better live. The set they played is worthy of 5 stars, but I would have enjoyed a full concert without the 'and friends' portion of the show, and I certainly could have done without the hour of set up between bands.

Gaslight Anthem was great. Murder By Death was quite unique. The set changes took a little too long....but other than that it was great.

    Brilliant!

by Michala on 2009-09-26Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

This show had everything for everyone! It was amazing in pretty much almost every way! The Crowd got a little bit too rowdy for my taste during Gaslight, but it was brilliant! The venue is beautiful! the staff friendly and the music ridiculous! Frank Turner started the night off right and made my day! Not many people were there to witness this amazing set! It was not long enough! The Loved Ones put on a great show as did Murder by Death! Everything was amazing! The crowd did get a little crazy during Gaslight but it was worth it!!!!!
