Allison Russell -- poet, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, activist, and co-founder of Our Native Daughters and Birds of Chicago -- embarks upon her next chapter in The Returner, a body-shaking, mind-expanding, soulful expression of Black liberation, Black love, of Black self-respect. Written and co-produced by Allison along with dim star (her partner JT Nero and Drew Lindsay), The Returner was recorded over Solstice week in December 2022 at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles, CA. It features Russell's "Rainbow Coalition" band of all female musicians along with special guest appearances from the legendary Wendy & Lisa, Brandi Carlile, Brandy Clark, and Hozier.

Allison Russell is a beautiful singer, songwriter, woman. Absolutely wonderful show. Can't wait to see her at the Juno Awards.
This was a beautiful show from start to finish, it filled my heart right up! The venue was beautiful too; the only thing that would have improved it was more washroom access! Just a gorgeous show.
Allison Russell is amazing in her albums but even better live. Her voice, and her outstanding clarinet and banjo playing as well as her incredible songwriting skills were in full abundance at this event, where she truly connected with the audience, and with the other musicians. Everyone was outstanding, including the opening act. I would return to this exact same show tomorrow if I could. Very well done.
Spectacular show. Amazing performance. What a treat to be in the audience. Your messages on love, equality, tolerance and respect are welcome anthems for our times.
Allison Russell and her band were fantastic, as was the opening artist Aysanabee. She was so full of energy and positivity and delivered a heartfelt performance that made me like her even more than I did before the show. What an incredible talent. Looking forward to seeing her again - I hope she comes back to Toronto soon!
I actually went see the first musician Aysanabee. I wasn’t familiar with Allison Russell but wow was that an amazing surprise! What a talent and such incredible energy! This was a very memorable concert.
Allison Russell was magnificent!! So original, so lyrical and the show was so varied and interesting. Her all "beloved chosen sister"band was incredible and musically very tight. The Bella concert hall is a great venue with great sightlines. My only criticism is not for Allison or the band but for the sound. The words were muddy both for Aysanabee ( the opening act) and for the first set of Allison's show. The sound improved but was not perfect for the second set. The vocals should rise above the instruments. The Bella has great acoustics so this should not be a problem but it was.
I cannot say enough how awesome this concert was! What a pleasure to watch. She has such a dynamic, and heartwarming personality. It was a moving and beautiful experience and I hope anyone who has the opportunity to go will!
Allison and Band were excellent, music, heart and soul combined for a wonderful evening. We did expect better sound in the venue, hard to hear the words clearly for the warm up and with Allison. A real treat! 👍🏻
