The show was amazing! Strong musical performances by the cast, high energy levels, and so many laughs. The set was simple but functional and the cast did a wondrous job transporting you into the world of Abba and a Greek Island paradise. I would recommend this show to anyone!

    Mamma Mia production is disapointing

by TheatreBuff2 on 2016-11-05Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Compared to the standard local theatre groups, the "broadway" tour group performing Mamma Mia was disappointing, the sets were nice but unimaginative and the singing was good, but consistently suffered from inconsistent quality and the lead Actress was either having an off day (without telling the audience) or else is struggling with the range of the singing she is asked to perform in the Play. The staging was dull especially when the action was limited to just a few actors on stage and reminded me of classical opera in which there were many moments when the lead would stand still for entire songs and just emote with little movement and overly dramatic facial expressions. For the money, I have seen much better locally using local talent, so overall disappointed in the production of this musical.

Mama Mia was very fun and you left singing all son

by Dell4 on 2016-11-05Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Although it started a little slow and flat, it improved greatly. The roles were well matched and the dads had incredible voices. Felt the choreography and dancing could be better but having said that, we did find it fun and would encourage others if they want a great date night evening out, it's a great show to see. Donna bet pals,Tanya and Rosie, were truly funny ..

The experience started with Cappuccino & Lattes when we entered; we sat by people who we visited with before, we laughed , we got emotional at times, the orchestra was superb, we are seniors and the volume was perfect. The production was wonderful, saw it in New York 11 yrs ago and enjoyed this equally .Everyone lived up to their roles including the choreography, background singers and dancers, also the sound system was maned beautifully along with lighting.

    Great performance

by Mabelwong on 2016-04-06Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

It was a fantastic show. All actors and actresses are great. Their dancing and singing are perfect too. Unfortunately, there is one of the backstage staff always standing behind the stage set on stage left. It was so disturbing. I could tell she is a lady and she is tell. That was the only thing that I would like to complain. They are the professional team, so that it couldn't happen.

This show was delightful. Saw it many years ago and remember it being very entertaining but I had forgotten just how funny it was. The music is great. We really enjoyed our afternoon out.

    Meh.

by Musicalgoer on 2016-04-05Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Went in a group of 5 women; from 15 yrs old to 91. None of us were very impressed. Don't get me wrong, it was enjoyable but nothing special. The music was disappointing until the last 10 minutes (the finale). No goosebumps. Did not think Sophie and Sky characters were well suited. Sam was very tall and Sophie very small. Sophie looked like a child next to Sam. The scenery was not impressive (the same stage set throughout). Costumes were pretty plain. All in all the day out with family was great but the show lacked pizzazz. We all agreed we'd seen better.
