Even though I booked months in advance, before Ticketmaster was able to assign seats, I was in the VERY worst section, furthest from the diving platforms. I heard that people who booked closer to the games actual time, got the better seats
Event was good, seats were great. Volunteers provided great guidance to get into event quickly. Announcers could have stimulated the fans a little more [not all are educated to the fine points of diving i.e. applause is best heard by divers after they surface]. One of the greatest things for me is to see and share the accomplishment of the winning Athletes. UNFORTUNATELY the placement of the Medal Podium was hidden from 80% of the fans. The media got a great view and the winners got to face mostly empty [media, volunteer, athlete] seats. Who wouldn't have considered that the paying fans would like to hare this part of the event with the Athletes.
The pan am games diving was thrilling. The trip to the venue incredibly organized, but the venue itself was uncomfortable and cramped, and showing your ticket outside they tell you not to leave without the ticket. What they mean is that teenagers who go into the lobby cannot get back in without tickets but everyone else can. I was very unhappy with how it was communicated and handled AND if the Olympic ever come to Toronto, I learned that my plan will be to get out of dodge!
The event was fantastic once we were moved to better seat and could actually see. Our seats should not have been sold for the diving events. We lost out on the first 3 sets of jumps before we were moved.
There is no air condoning in the pool so it was unbearably hot and there was a three hour break . Painful. Would not go to another event!!!
Medal round for women's 3m springboard and men's 10m synchro diving was fantastic!! Traffic was a breeze, parking at venue was easy and egress was quite fast after the event. Having to use portalets was unfortunate for spectators with East seats especially when the West ticket holders had beautiful indoor bathrooms. There was one incredibly disappointing aspect: after cheering wildly as Canadian athletes won 2 Silver Medals, spectators were unable to view the Medal Ceremony because it was held right up against the East viewing stand. Everyone around me expressed some pretty bitter sentiments.
Seeing the actual event was great. My son loved it. The traffic was not bad. Getting to our seats was fast and efficient. The actual organizing was not fan friendly at all. WHOLE sections of the stands close to the diving platforms were empty while the rest of us had to sit the farthest away from the actual event. Thats pretty bad organizing. The metals were handed out on small platforms in a corner of the pool area where one WHOLE side of the audience could not see. There was a PERFECT area in the middle of the two pools, with the diving platforms in the background, for the WHOLE place to see, beautiful backdrop, but they chose to use the far off corner. Who ever is organizing this needs to think of the fans first. No question there is room for improvement.
Incredible to be at a live medal event at the Pan Am Games. This was especially true when Canada got medals in all six competitions. 3-Gold, 2-Silver and a Bronze. We were very fortunate to have front row seats. Three Pan Am records were broken at the event. World Class venue.
Sitting in bleachers, east side, row 13. Hanging speaker arrays obscured about 30% of dive from 10m as well as screen that showed replay. Only saving grace were all the empty seats so was able to find somewhere to sit where I could see athletes. Medal ceremony held where it could not be seen from bleachers, although it appeared on large screen.
We had a great time at the 3 m women's diving and 10 m men's diving finals on Sunday. The venue was great and we all had a terrific time. We were impressed with the organization of the entire event. We are going to a few more Pan Am Games events and are really excited to be going. If you can get to an event for the Pan Am Games we all highly recommend it.
It was a privilege to be able to cheer for our Canadian Athletes whether they won or not as they have worked so hard to get to this point. Seeing them standing on the podium (unfortunately on the screen only) and receive their medals was a bonus. Can't wait for the next event we are going to.
It was good! We enjoyed watching the event at the new aquatics centre and field house in Scarborough (@ the UFT campus). Was surprised at the parking prices ($20). Liked using the HOV lane to get there (pretty fast commute coming from the middle of the city). Our view from the highest seat level was obstructed by posts and beams when looking at the far pool where the diving competition was taking place (if we were watching the lane swimming it would probably be a better view from our seat location). The event went pretty quickly (no intermission breaks for a 6 set round of 15 divers). Really liked the commodary of cheering on all the althletes (not just our own country...although the Canadian divers were the highlight!). The food vendors didn't look busy--it was a quick turnaround of events so not many people participated in refreshments). Security clearance was quick and easy.
...I was disappointed with where I was seated. I booked the tickets the first day they came out in the fall and I asked for the best available. I didn't get my actual seat until June and we were sitting at the other end of the pool (a bit hard to see the divers). I don't know if I'll purchase tickets again if I don't know the exact seats I'm getting.
Still thinking about checking out the Pan Am Games, well stop and just go - it could be a long time before Toronto gets to host another sporting event like this. These athletes are performing incredible skills and we'll see many of them at the 2016 Olympics. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to cheer on the home team and experience athleticism on a whole other level. It was over the top watching the women and men divers do what they do. The men diving from the 10M platform are crazy talented but being there to see Canada win a gold and silver on the 3M springboard was the best. Way to go Jennifer Able and Pam Ware!
We really enjoyed the 10m mens platform diving event. our seats were amazing. and it was cool to see the athletes perform. 2 drawbacks - 1) i bought tickets for a final event well in advance. a few weeks before the event it was switched to a preliminary event. this was disappointing. 2) we didn't know what event we would see (mens/womens, springboard/platform) until we arrived. it would have been good to know when booking the tickets.
Event itself was great, but our seats were incredibly poor. Speakers from the ceiling obstructing view of the 10m platform and scoreboards. Luckily were able to move to open seats a couple rows down halfway through.
We attended the Panam Diving as a Family. The facility was great although the big screen TV was flat against the back wall and so were the smaller screens. The smaller screens were hard to see without binoculars. It would have been better if there was a corner screen. Also one of the large speakers obscured the diving platform a little from where we were sitting. We sat in section E301 seats 16-19. Also we were sitting across from the swimming pool not the Diving pool which was at the other end, the divers looked very small. The Diving itself was great, I wouild definitely see a diving event again.
The event itself was great, but my seats, which I purchased at the very first opportunity, were completely obstructed, couldn't see the tower, couldn't see the screen. It was the same for about 20 people immediately around me, the speakers completely blocking the view of both ends of the pool. Very poor, this should have been considered when the speakers were hung up, or alternative seats offerred to those with seats with obstructed views.
This was the first time I had been to an event of this calibre! From the moment I walked in the venue, the excitement was electric. What a beautiful facility at the Aquatics Centre! I was more than pleased that I decided to go to an event. This was very last minute and I am trying to get tickets to other events too!
Very disappointed. I purchased the tickets months ago when they went on sale. Was not possible to choose seats. However, when I received finally the seat numbers were in a very bad location. Big speaker covered exactly the performing area in front of me. To add to the insult, the medal ceremony was completely out of view.
