Vancouver Canucks History

The Vancouver Canucks started play in 1970, entering the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. Vancouver has been to the Stanley Cup Final on three occasions, though they lost to the New York Islanders in 1982, the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Despite humble beginnings, the Canucks continued to develop. With the arrival of three key players — Captain Trevor Linden, netminder Kirk McLean, and "the Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure, the Canucks had a winning Playoff run season — making it to the 1994 finals.

The Canucks continued to acquire superstars like Alexander Mogilny and Markus Näslund, and while the following years meant a series of losses, it allowed for the team to draft Henrik and Daniel Sedin, who would go on to lead the Canucks to Presidents' Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12, as well as their finals appearance in 2011.

Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena

The Vancouver Canucks play their home games at the 475,000-square foot Rogers Arena, which also played host to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games where Sidney Crosby scored the “Golden Goal.” A staple of downtown Vancouver, the Canucks played their first game at the arena on October 9, 1995. Other notable events that have taken place at the arena include the 1998 NHL All-Star Game, 2019 NHL Entry Draft, and in October 2002 when Queen Elizabeth II dropped the ceremonial first puck during an NHL exhibition game between the Canucks and San Jose Sharks. Additionally, the arena played host to Games 1, 2, 5, and 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals.

    Entertaining

by Markus on 2024-01-23Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I haven’t been to a Canucks game in a long time. The entertainment pregame and throughout was a lot of fun. The game itself was everything I expected. The Canucks are fun to watch this year. Finally, hockey to look forward to. Great job from Rogers arena staff, the quality local singer to the Canucks management!

It was a great time. Felt safe at all times

by West Coast Hockey Trip on 2024-01-23Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Stayed in a hotel 9 minutes away so an easy walk through the weed clouds to the game. We were in the upper bowl and the railing that were in front of every row was just the right height to block my wife's view of the game. Surprisingly only 2 washrooms on the top level.

    Great Atmosphere

by Jiffy Jeff on 2024-01-23Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The Canucks in house video presentation prior and during the game was excellent and kept the fans throughly entertained. Even though my team lost it was an awesome game to be at and hopefully I'll get another chance to take in another Leafs/Canuckleheads game again soon.

    It’s our year

by TML 24 on 2024-01-23Rogers Arena - Vancouver

It was a fun game to be at and lots of goals were scored. My seats views were slightly blocked by the railings that are around the stairs. So picking better next time will be priority.

    First NHL Game ever

by Monique on 2024-01-05Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Very impressive. The ice Hockey Game, entertainment, the crowd, the Stadium. For Tuesday night Game it wasn't that excitement or noisy as a lot people with small children were at the Arena. But we enjoyed it. It was our First NHL game ever and we were travelling from Germany to watch the game. Loved it. We were setting in row 8 behind the goal Keeper and loved the view.

by Greg on 2024-01-05Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The Canucks game we attended the other day was absolutely awesome! Coming from Australia it was our first game with the kids and my wife and everyone loved it. The food and drink service was excellent and entertainment during breaks nothing less. The game itself was amazing, intense and I would definitely want to go again. Great experience, would recommend to everyone.

    Great game!

by Ann on 2023-12-26Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Awesome seats, great crowd, $30+ for 2 semi edible hotdogs & 2 drinks. Everything was enjoyable except the dogs, that were cold before we even got the condiments on.

    fun and but expensive

by marty on 2023-12-21Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Stubhub seems to get all the good tickets before real people can buy them. drives the cost of everything up by doing that. otherwise the actual game itself was good. just wish i could have chosen aisle seats given that i bought my 5 tickets 3 weeks ahead of time.
