So much fun to finally see Nickel Creek live after all these years— the show was a great balance of past hits and a few songs from the new album as well.
No surprises here- top notch performance. Next time we’ll get seats a bit closer to improve the sound quality.
I absolutely love how together these musicians are. The instrumental mastery was astounding. The crowd was so supportive, it's been many years since hitting a Toronto stage, and seeing the growth of this Bluegrass classic just after spending a week at Bluegrass camp was epic.
They played all of the favourites as well as some new stuff. Hopefully it doesn’t take them 18 years to return! Overall it was a fun and engaging concert from these great musicians. The Danforth Music Hall is a great small venue for a show like this. It’s very intimate (with the exception of the Budweiser booths on the floor).
I have seen all these artists separately in other projects, but never in their original grouping. What a treat to see three performers at the top of their game. Traces of jazz, classical, rock and folk, all framed by traditional bluegrass instruments. Shoutout to the accompanying stand up bass as well. (Sorry, didn’t catch the name). Opening act Aoife O’Donovan was stellar as well, surprising the crowd with appearance by Donovan Woods to duet a song they co-wrote. Also The Danforth never disappoints. Great sound and sight lines. Well organized entry and security.
