Well organized, love Rugby 7"s, quick games, game over and the next team enters the field. Stadium and staff awesome.
Would be really useful to update the rugby Canada website with results of games, particularly for the second day. Which team was playing etc
All in all, Langford Stadium does its best given its location, and seating and parking options. Hosting staff are good but the audio control leaves a lot of room for improvement. Having loud music continuing from the moment a try is scored, while players are taking a conversion, and sometimes past kickoff is bad form and shows a lack of understanding of rugby, and what the players need and what people actually want from their day out. It even continued after the final while players were mingling and chatting with spectators, turn it off or way down! So a music and commentator review is badly needed for future 7s tournaments. Bar prices are also too high, $10 for a beer? Still, it's the same at BC Place so maybe this is all a cunning World Rugby plan to make the sport more entertaining and expensive.
Excellent event. Well organised, great seats, terrific crowd. Proud to see both Men's and Women's teams play so well. Go Canada!
RAN Rugby Sevens Event hosted by Rugby Canada was an outstanding event. Enjoyable international rugby put on by women and mens team. Great event. Good atomsphere. Food selection was great. Seating and views were wonderful.
This was a fantastic weekend of Rugby Sevens, made even better by the small venue and being able to be close up with the teams. Crowd support was awesome. Great job Starlight Stadium and well played all the Sevens Teams.
We love the upbeat atomosphere of Rugby 7s. Wonderful to see the teams playing so hard against each other while at the same time clearly showing concern when someone is injured and helping players up off the ground, patting them on the back as they leave the field. However, for us 70+ year olds, much of it is simply too loud. The guy with the mic encouraging us to make more noise was way too noisy himself. Why have his volume up that high? On the other hand the background music was well chosen as was its voiume. Wondered why we needed it for a one or to minute wait for the conversion to happen. Surely we can amuse ourselves for that little time. I guess we all complain about how expensive the concessions are but I found the quality of the food really bad, until I discovered the Greek food truck way in the back and could get a souvlaki and a salad. I seem to remember years back when we started to attend Rugby 7s at Starlight there were far more choices. Maybe I'm dreaming. The long and the short of it is that we'll make ourselves tasty snacks and watch from home next time.
Online it advertised food trucks (plural) on Saturday there was just one, advertised BBQ but there wasn't. Prices were very high for food and drink. Although it's good that you can refill the empty water container you had to dump before entering. Merchandise and beverages...they ran out on Saturday and didn't restock for Sunday (medal matches). People need time to think purchases over and I would have bought a hat and shirt if the supply had been replenished. Would also be nice to have a couple of jumbo Trons and a scoreboard that everyone regardless where seated could see. Finally we were told that we couldn't come back in after 3 pm but when asked why as the matches were on past 5:30 pm, were told it's an.internal rule...don't understand this
It was amazing getting to cheer on such amazing athletes.
