Many artists took the pandemic years to create, record and take a break from touring, but 24kgoldn used them to make his breakthrough. Aptly named, Golden Landis Von Jones started rapping at the age of 14 and went platinum before his 18th birthday. He gained his following with a viral social media presence and lyrics featuring his love of high-end fashion and sneakers. Early tracks like "iPhone" and "Trapper's Anthem" gained attention through online posts, but his first mainstream breakthrough was 2018's "Ballin' Like Shareef." With that 2018 hit, 24kgoldn was signed to Columbia Affiliate Records LLC while still attending the University of Southern California.
