Daniel Johnston was amazing. The concert was so much deeper than just the music, it was actually very inspiring.

    Daniel Johnston

by Kasper on 2009-09-10Myer Horowitz Theatre - Edmonton

I saw Daniel Johnston on Austin City Limits and was inspired enough to catch him live in concert. His lyrics are sad, funny, and pretty universal. If you have seen the documentary and you are a fan I would recommend seeing him. It's also interesting to see him play with whatever local band opens for him.

    Manic Depressive is pure talent

by Brittany on 2009-09-10Myer Horowitz Theatre - Edmonton

He shakes when sings. He spits when he talks. His voice is perfectly original. It was one of the best shows I've ever been to.

    Daniel Johnston was unforgettable

by Chaseb on 2009-09-09Myer Horowitz Theatre - Edmonton

Great show. Daniel played by himself and with a band. He played new and old songs and one encore, "True love will find you in the end". It was great.

    daniel johnston incredible genuine amazing!

by ultrabethery on 2009-09-07Venue - Vancouver

I wasn't sure what to expect initially after watching his documentary but when Daniel came on stage I knew i was was going to be amazed! With eyes of love and determination he took the stage, maybe a little vunerable and definitely full of emotion. That's what I love about Daniel Johnston, he writes music I can feel, with simple metaphors that hit your mind and stick. His fun, playful attitude expressed in all his songs seeps into the audience as we followed his every word. The show seemed spontanious as he stopped mid song and switched to another one saying "wait how about this one" with a smile. later he was joined by another acoustic player so he could focus more on vocals. After a short intermission, he came back with "hide your love away" a lennon tune that could have easily been his own. The opening band joined him near the end of the show with a handful of songs that Daniel seemed to pick even more randomly from his songbook, switching the vibe to rock and roll. The night was full of genuine love and pure happiness for all, I can't wait for his return.

You come to Vancouver, I'm there EVERY time.

Daniel is a living legend, it's a crime that it's taken so long for people to catch on... he is a born performer, a prolific song writer and larger than life character. He should have been able to make a living touring years ago... my only complaint is that they could have had one size bigger in tour shirts :)
