About

DEERHUNTER IN CONCERT:

Experimental rockers Deerhunter pour the same thought and energy into their live performances as they do their groundbreaking records. Building on the swirling atmospherics of their studio albums, the group explores uncharted musical territory with echoing guitars and avant-garde sound collages on epics like “Helicoptor”, “He Would Have Laughed”, and “Cover Me Slowly”. And they combine those kinds of experimental sounds with adrenaline-fueled rock on favorites like “Nothing Ever Happened”, “Dream Captain”, and “Snakeskin”. Versatile frontman Bradford Cox adapts to both these approaches, as he coos/croons/screams his tales of angst and alienation. Known for their intense live shows, Deerhunter take ticket buyers into the stratosphere with out-of-this-world musical explorations that blend ambient bliss with garage rock performance art.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

When he was a kid, Bradford Cox found his first artistic outlet by creating sound collages on his family karaoke machine. This experimental passion became a full-time pursuit when he formed Deerhunter in 2001 with drummer/keyboardist Moses Archuleta. The intrepid sonic explorers went through several initial lineups before Cox reached out to his high school friend, guitarist/vocalist Lockett Pundt. Adding the dynamic guitarist paid off for the group, as Pundt’s debut on the group’s 2007 album Cryptograms helped them craft their most rock-oriented and critically acclaimed album to date. They generated even more buzz the following year with the release of Microcastle and its epic single “Nothing Ever Happened”, which became an instant indie staple and appeared on many best-of lists at the end of the year. While albums such as 2010’s Halcyon Digest and 2015’s Fading Frontier continue to thrill audiophiles and musical explorers, Deerhunter continues to wow crowds with their aurally spectacular live shows.
