About

ELVIS DEPRESSEDLY IN CONCERT:

Indie quintet Elvis Depressedly create an intimate, confessional atmosphere at their live shows that heightens the emotional impact of their soul-searching rock. Frontman Mat Cothran invites ticket buyers into his world, spinning captivating tales of nostalgia and loss with his poetic lyrics. Backing vocalist Delaney Mills complements Cothran’s intense passion with her serene coos while enhancing the haunting mood of their songs with her eerie keyboard drones. Meanwhile the rest of the band contributes shuffling drums, melodic basslines, and ringing guitar chords that add a subtle sway to favorites like “Thou Shalt Not Murder”, “Come Clean Angel”, and “New Alhambra”. Fans looking for an emotional rollercoaster set to a cathartic backbeat won't want to miss Elvis Depressedly on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Mat Cothran, the melancholic mastermind behind Asheville, NC’s Elvis Depressedly, began writing songs in 2005 under the name Coma Cinema. He compiled the best of his early material for the 2009 compilation Baby Prayers, which generated buzz from music blogs like Pitchfork. While his one-man band was gaining traction, Cothran also began working with his significant other, multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Delaney Mills, in 2011. Cheekily christening themselves Elvis Depressedly, they set about independently releasing their debut album Save the Planet Kill Yourself later that year. After expanding to a full lineup and recording a couple more albums (2012’s Mickey’s Dead and 2013’s Holo Pleasures), the group caught the attention of Run for Cover Records and inked a deal. Elvis Depressedly continues to thrill fans with their passionate live performances and increasingly poised recorded material, such as 2015’s New Alhambra.
