The best version of the Nutcracker I've seen, and I've seen many. Classic, funny, and very memorable. Thank you so much.

This ballet was just excellent. I have seen it in past years and I feel like they carefully considered crowd response, stage fx, choreography, etc. and fine tuned accordingly to give us perfection this year. Of course the dancing and magic tricks have been top notch every time.

    Magical performance

by Odete on 2011-12-17The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

What a magical performance! It took me into the wonder and joy of a child experiencing this dream of toys, mice, candies coming to life. The dancing, set design, costumes, coreography - are all so well done.

    The Nutcracker: A Magical Night

by Mountain3 on 2011-12-12Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

The National Ballet of Cuba did a great job with this family classic. The dancing was excellent, though I did notice the male dancers were overall better than their female counterparts. They stuck to the traditional story, which I enjoyed, given that many other productions have changed the story to help 'modernize' it.

    Never a dull moment!

by Delany on 2011-12-11Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

I was sad to see the end of the Nutcracker ballet. For almost two hours I sat spellbound. Having been to Cuba several times I knew that Cuban dancers have superb timing and rythmn and love to perform. I wasn't dissapointed about anything in this performance.

The nutcracker first act was great, I liked the music and the story line. The 2nd act was a little long.

Location of event - not suitable. An arena does not make ambience for any ballet. Stage not wide enough; at times dancers had to decrease step width etc; could see going ons stage right and left due to curtains not covering open sides. Ticket price was very reasonable. Purchasing and picking up tixs nice and easy!! The Nutcracker is my favourite ballet and I have seen it 8 times. The sound and lighting were good; the costumes lovely; painted backdrop curtains were beautiful and, of course, the music is wonderful. The dancers, especially the women, were very good. However, some of the men were a little off their step and also didn't seem to be a strong. The Prima Ballerina (Clara) performed beautifully. She is very talented and has a wonderful sense of dance/rhythm. Overall it was an enjoyable evening.

It was good, however we paid alot for the tickets and we were watching the Stage at an angle. Therefore, we could not see part of the Ballet. Too high priced for what we could see.

    Not bad!

by LadyRahRah on 2010-12-21Red Deer College Arts Centre - Mainstage - Red Deer

Unfortunately we didn't realize that this wasn't going to be a ballet danced by professional dancers. This was our first ballet and the tickets were cheap so we didn't mind. The facility, costumes and props were excellent. The play was danced by young (and some very little) girls. Most girls were very talented and you could definitely get a chuckle out of the tiny ones who looked so cute up there. There were moments of mistakes, a bit of moments where the timing was off and lines weren't perfected, and for the most part, there wasn't really any jumps or other movements that were completely mind-blowing (with a few exceptions). But with that being said, and keeping in mind that you weren't going to a professional ballet, everything was really well done. So if you're aware of what you're getting into - a bunch of young girls dancing the Nutcracker and not professionals - then prepare to be very pleased!

    The Njutcracker was delightful

by Laia on 2010-12-21CARDINAL CARTER THEATRE - Toronto

I was thoroughly entertaiined by all the different costumes and colours. The different ages of all the dancers were incredible. The music of course was superb and the main dancers were extremely talented. The choreography was very well done and overall it was throughly entertaining.
