About

YELLE IN CONCERT:

French electropop sensation Yelle is an ingenue for a new generation, blending the innocence of '60s chanson with the production savvy of contemporary dance music. As stylish as she is talented, the bubbly singer takes the stage at her live shows in cutting-edge stagewear, dancing energetically while charming audiences with her thickly accented banter. Whether she's jumping around to early favorites like "A Cause des Garcons" or treating fans to cuts from her highly anticipated third album, Yelle always brings the dance party on her fun-loving tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Yelle was formed in 2005 by singer Yelle, a.k.a. Julie Budet, and drummer/producer GrandMarnier, a.k.a. Jean-Francois Perrier. The duo's first track "Je Veux Te Voir" became a MySpace sensation in 2005, generating significant buzz and landing them a deal with Source Records. After adding producer Tepr to their lineup, Yelle released their debut LP Pop Up in 2007 to glowing reviews and a No. 8 position on the US Dance chart. The album landed two Top 20 hits on the French charts and earned the group legions of fans around the world, resulting in three years of touring in support of the album. Yelle released their sophomore LP Safari Disco Club in 2011, once again reaching the Top 10 on the US Dance chart before embarking on a critically acclaimed world tour. With their highly anticipated third album hitting shelves in 2014, Yelle once again has fans eager to catch them in concert.

    Yelle is a great band

by Sergeminator on 2011-05-16Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Opening band was great, they like a mix between Daft Punk and Air. Yelle was a amazing, she used different outfits, singed most of the best songs (no trisstess/joia) though, interacted with the crowd a lot and even waited at the end at the Merchandise stand to greet anyone who was interested in talking with her! One of the best shows this year.

The show was fantastic. So much energy. Both bands left it all on the dance floor.

    Even better live!

by MonPays on 2011-05-15Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

French Horn Rebellion: really worried me. I know Yelle's music but in any great detail and therefore I didn't really know what to expect. When French Horn Rebellion was into their set, I was worried...was Yelle going to be as bad? I had dragged some friends to go to this concert and I was sure they'd never trust my judgement again. Then Yelle got on stage, with her hairy, shaggy animal suit and started to sing, her back up drummers dressed in safari attire. Her voice was sweet, even and always on key. Even when she yelled, it worked right into the beat. She rolled out one tune after another, raising the energy level of the crowd... I think almost everyone was on the floor for most of the set, especially towards the end. She made up and more for the opening act.

    110% from Yelle

by visually on 2011-05-07The Opera House - Toronto

Yelle performed an incredible live set – I only wish it went on a little longer! Show was a little over an hour, which was disappointing, but I can hardly blame her as she was really giving every song her all. Total involvement, total stage presence, and incredible music. Loved every minute, plus she came out afterwards to meet fans and sign!
