Amazing, one giant dance party. Loved every song she sang.

  • Excellent show at Commodore

by RD on 2024-09-16Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a fan for over two decades, I was trying to keep my expectations in check, but she over-delivered on everything! Engaging, genuine, humorous, sensitive...and touring with her husband and co-collaborator Richard Jones on this NA tour must have been special (and I assume the five kids are in tow as well). Sophie did not disappoint; the final acoustic presentation above all of us in the upper level bar area paid homage to her Kitchen Disco offerings during the pandemic. This topped off a wonderful entertaining evening at the amazing Commodore Ballroom.

  • Excellent!

I LOVED this show! Sophie Ellis-Bextor is a beautiful, talented, self-possessed, charming woman who entertained us simply and very effectively with a small band and her own eye-popping, leg-kicking presence. No typical distracting dance diva tactics like cheesy backup dancers and excessive choreography/production. Nice mix of hit singles from the very beginning to fresh out the studio and in between. Classy Japan-inspired stage set-up with two cherry blossom trees that the Commodare made a very fitting venue for. I hope we continue to see more British/global pop stars like Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams etc come through Vancouver!

  • Sophie Ellis Bexter

Her voice was good and very unique but the problem for us was that the drums and base totally drowned her good voice out. So could not understand what she was singing about. Very disappointing.

  • So so great!

She was so much fun! Having been a fan for more than 20 years never thought I’d be able to see her live and the wait was worth it! High energy! The mic was on! Looked and sounded great.

  • The legendary Sophie!!

by Luisa on 2024-06-18The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I'd been waiting to see Sophie Ellis Bextor for a long time, so I immediately got tickets when I saw her coming to Toronto. I didn't know what to expect ( I knew it would be great regardless), but she blew my mind away. Her energy on stage, charismatic personality, humbleness, love, passion for what she does, and her fans are from another world. I am happy that she's getting the recognition she deserves! She sounds even better than in the records!! It was such a fun show; I danced the entire night away. If you get a chance, SEE HER! You won't regret it!

  • A big surprise!

by Charlie Silverheart on 2024-06-11The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I didn’t know all Sophie’s albums so some of her song covers surprised me until I realized later that she had actually released them in the past. Obviously I knew Groovejet and Murder but the entire show was really great. Although there was no choreography to speak of, Sophie’s singing was clearly live and the band was tight (although I detected a backing instrumental track, which with dance music is really no big deal). And the audience reaction was ecstatic, like nothing I’ve experienced! The scream that went up after her surprise “unplugged” encore rendition from the edge of the balcony of one of her earliest songs! Worth the money.

  • It was a really good show

My girlfriend bought tickets well in advance. I wasn't familiar with this artist but was told I was going. I'm glad I did. It was a positive new experience. They put on a really good show.

Absolutely amazing! It was well worth the wait for her first North American tour!

We expected it to be a great concert, but it exceeded expectations!... Sophie was in great form, seemed to be enjoying herself, and that created a great vibe for the crowd. Special moment when she ended with an acoustic song 8 ft. away from us. Thank you!
