About

AC/DC IN CONCERT:

With dozens of driving anthems and countless epic concerts under their belt, AC/DC has become one of the most successful and recognizable hard rock bands ever. Powerhouse numbers like "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Highway to Hell," and "Back in Black" get ticket buyers headbanging along from the first few iconic chords, while a pyrotechnic stage show complete with fireworks, Jumbotrons, and stacks of cranked amplifiers ensures the whole arena sees, hears, and feels the thunder from start to finish. Legendary duck-walking guitarist Angus Young keeps crowds pumped with his relentless energy, doling out crushing riffs and lightning-fast licks with swagger to spare. And on the 2016 Rock or Bust Tour, special guest vocalist Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses steps in to lend his trademark range to AC/DC's earth-shaking sound, bringing a new edge to their larger-than-life performances.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brothers Angus and Malcolm Young got the name AC/DC from the back of their sister Margret's sewing machine ñ the same one she used to sew the campy Catholic schoolboy uniform Angus used to wear on stage. The fledgling hard rockers started making a name for themselves in small Australian clubs in 1973, but things truly started to take off when they hooked up with wild-man singer Bon Scott the following year. Sadly, tragedy struck a few years later following the international success of 1979's Highway to Hell when Scott died after a night of heavy drinking. Encouraged by the support of the late singer's parents, the group doggedly carried on with new frontman Brian Johnson to complete work on their next album, Back in Black. Since its 1980 release, that album has sold an estimated 50 million copies worldwide on the back of quintessential rock staples like "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Hell's Bells," and the title track. The band maintained a steady recording and touring schedule for the next three decades before health issues began to take their toll. First Malcolm Young was forced to retire in 2014 with Parkinson's disease, then hearing loss sidelined Brian Johnson midway through their 2016 Rock or Bust Tour. AC/DC announced that Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose would finish the tour in Johnson's place, while the latter explored hearing aids that would allow him to rejoin the group in the future without further damaging his hearing (happily he noted that he'll still be able to record music). This never-say-die attitude over the past 40 plus years has further glorified AC/DC's legend for fans, who know they'll rock the stage no matter what.

I've been thunderstruck, what an amazing Rock'n'Roll concert. You had everything , drums, guitars, loud sound, pyrotechnics, even fireworks. But on top of that, what an amazing display of energy and incredible guitar playing by Angus. No wonder why the guy is so small, he's burning so many calories during a concert that he can't gain any weight. To sum it all, just go and see AC/DC, you'll understand.

  • ACDC...We salute you!

Spectacular show! Obviously not great acoustics in the Olympic stadium, but the volume was turned up LOUD...apparently about 118 decibels, and the fans were pumped. Not sure how long the boys can keep up that pace, but the most fun I've had at a show in a long time. Fun! Fun! Fun!

  • Horrible acoustics on Stade Olimpique

by AlexCio on 2009-08-09Olympic Stadium - Stade Olympique - MontrealRating: 1 out of 5

The event was well organized. The band did a good job. In the rare moments of reduced sound intensity you could clearly hear Angus Young guitar's crisp sound. The acoustics were horrible. This is what you would hear at the same time: - main speakers (delayed by 1sec) - delay towers - the crowd yelling - echos of speakers - echo of the crowd It sounded like a continuous noise to my ears. I could hardly recognize songs. My first AC/DC concert and, unfortunately, one of the worst concerts I've been to.

  • AC/DC was Spectacular!

Unforgettable! Very charismatic lead singer, sexy blow-up dolls, a strip tease, fireworks, pulsating light show, Angus is a crazy man! Non-stop energy, great mix of the classics and the new stuff. Beautiful stage, unfortunately le stade olympique has lousy sound quality but the band rocked it hard for 2.5 hrs They're in Ottawa tonight, I'm sooo tempted...

  • AC/DC WITH GUSTO

    by epp13 on 2009-08-09Olympic Stadium - Stade Olympique - MontrealRating: 4 out of 5

Once again these ageing rockers put it all out for their fans. They put on a first class show with the usual arena rock glitz. Somehow though, it doesn't feel pretentious. Meat and potatoes rock n roll, it fills you up and satisfies you in the end. The venue was less than ideal for sound but they still made it work.

  • CRAZY!! AMAZING! UNBELEIVABLE!! THE BEST!!

AC/DC Live!! A rock concert does not get better then this! I only wish that Anvil had played before ac/dc as they did in Moncton. But no Complaints.

  • Awsome!

Beside the sound that wasn't quite what I was expecting from a well experienced team, the show was awsome! Great band, great songs! They did all songs I was expecting. Angus Young was totally incredible! Wish I could be in that shape at my age! Got to see that show! Really happy I went! Keep up the good music!

  • AC/DC : Angus Young is still an incredible showman

by masterkotz on 2009-08-09Olympic Stadium - Stade Olympique - MontrealRating: 5 out of 5

I bought tickets to the AC/DC show because i grew up listening to their classics, like T.N.T., Hell's Bells, You Shook Me All Night Long, Back In Black. Sometimes, when artists reach their 60s, you just tell yourself : "Maybe i should go, there might not be many chances to see them live". So i bought tickets, at ground level. The Olympic Stadium, as everyone in Montreal knows, is a place where there is a lot of reverb, the sound is never really good, and it often depends where you sit. In front of the scene, we could notice at some point, but it wasn't that bad. Some of my friends in the regular seats told me the sound was really bad. That's the Big O, unfortunately that's the only stadium with over 50000 seats in Montreal.. So, what did I see. Well, a 60 feet wide scene with a 5 huge screens, a big train, a huge inflatable doll (Rosie), cannons shooting at he crowd, confettis flying over the crowd, and a big 200 feet walkdown in the middle. I also saw three AC/DC members who just punched in to work, did their job, and didn't move at all during the show: Cliff Williams (bass), Malcolm Young (rythm guitar) and Phil Rudd (drum). Rudd was so busy that he was smoking a cigarette during most of the show. Brian Johnson is a pretty good showman, even though is voice is well, not improving, but he did really good to entertain the crowd. But even after 30 years, AC/DC is all about one man : Angus Young. The guy has a stage presence that any rocker would like to have. And he has tons of energy. We saw all the classic Angus moves. Whatever Angus does, the crowd goes crazy. All in all, a great night. Lots of classic, plus 4 songs from their latest album (Rock N' Roll Train to start the night, then Big Jack, Black Ice and War Machine later). If AC/DC comes to our town. get tickets.

  • AC/DC Montreal August 8th, 2009

AC/DC PUTS ON A GREAT SHOW - MY WIFE, KIDS AND I LOVED IT. HOWEVER, WE DISLIKED THE VENUE... I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTMENTED TO HEAR THAT THIS SHOW WOULD BE AT THE STADIUM. TOO MANY PEOPLE AND SOUND QUALITY IS VERY POOR. DISTANCE BETWEEN THE SPECTATORS AND THE BAND IS WAY TOO FAR.. i UNDERSTAND IT WAS DONE ONLY BECAUSE OF THE REVENUE IT GENERATES WE WENT BECAUSE IT WAS POTENTIALLY LAST SHOW FOR AC/DC IN MONTREAL. GOOD LUCK BRIAN, ENJOY RETIREMENT

  • ac/dc was terrific

Probably one of the greatest concerts ive ever been to ... From the high energy guitar solos to the great vocals to the incredibly solid rythm section AC/DC really made a great comeback with this tour. It was all simply amazing from the rock n' roll train at the beginning to the cannons at the end!!!

  • AC/DC, WE SALUTE YOU!

by Rokhard on 2009-08-09Olympic Stadium - Stade Olympique - MontrealRating: 5 out of 5

This show was a pure, unadulterated, stadium rock n' roll show in the classic sense. I'm not a big fan of stadium rock, but when it's these legends, its a different story! They really knew how to deliver an awesome experience for this type of venue. Thousands of flashing red horns, giant blow up Rosie doll, giant bell, confetti everywhere, and of course those unforgettable cannons blasting away at the end of " For Those About to Rock"... What an incredible and and adrenaline pumping tribute to their legions of loyal fans! They really didn't even need to release a new album, they would have packed the house playing all their old classics. Even if you are not a big AC/DC fan, seeing these classic monsters of rock live has just got to be on your "100 things to do before you die" list. I'm sure glad I got to cross it off mine.

  • AWESOME!!!!!

This band truly gives you a bang for your buck. After all these years, it's 110% effort at every show. Every song is a hit and their sound is unmatched in volume. Angus is the man but the rest of the band is key to the overall success. Rock & Roll is what it's all about and they know how do it right. Any fan of Rock music must attend at least once in their lifetime the ACDC experience before they stop.

Best band ever! These guys are living breathing music legends! When I think about how much this show has inspired and impressed on so many different levels, I would need to write abook, or at least a novella. They get better with age, can't wait to see them in another 15 years from now.
