About

Ali Wong is an Emmy award-winning actress, comedian, writer, and producer known for her breakout Netflix stand-up specials "Baby Cobra", "Hard Knock Wife", and the Emmy-nominated "Don Wong".

Most recently, Wong starred in and executive produced the Netflix and A24 dark comedy "Beef", opposite Steven Yeun. The series premiered in April 2023 to widespread acclaim, receiving 8 Emmy Awards and 13 nominations. Wong's performance as Amy Lau earned her the Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics Choice and Gotham Awards for "Best Actress in a Limited Series". She is also nominated for a Screen Actors Guild and Independent Spirit Award. The series received that year's Emmy and Critics Choice Awards for "Best Limited Series", won each of its nominated categories at the Golden Globes, and was honored by the American Film Institute in their Top Television Programs Of The Year.

In 2023, Wong embarked on her cross-country stand-up tour ALI WONG: LIVE, which recently extended into 10 additional cities through 2024. She is also currently producing "Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld" for Netflix, in which she stars opposite Lucy Liu. The animated action series follows a Chinese-American teenager with supernatural powers who is hunted by forces from the underworld.

In 2019, Wong co-wrote and starred in the romantic comedy ALWAYS BE MY MAYBE, alongside Randall Park. She also executive produced and voiced the lead in the offbeat and zany animated sitcom "Tuca and Bertie", and directed Sheng Wang's 2022 comedy special "Sweet and Juicy". Wong's other film and television highlights include Netflix's "Big Mouth", "Human Resources", ABC's "Fresh Off the Boat", Walt Disney Studios' RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET, and the Pixar animated film ONWARD.

In 2019, Wong released her New York Times bestselling autobiographical book, "Dear Girls: Intimate Tales, Untold Secrets & Advice for Living Your Best Life". The book features heartfelt and hilarious letters addressed to her daughters' future selves.

Entire show was related to divorce

    by GK on 2023-07-11

There were a few funny jokes but I don't think the crowd was engaged the entire time. All she talked about was getting divorced, dating, and getting laid. Her previous shows were definitely better.

    Good show as always

    by Karolina on 2023-07-10

She is super funny. I went with my brother, some of the jokes probably more women oriented, we both loved it regardless.

    Great but too short

    by Nina on 2023-07-10

She was as raunchy and funny as expected. Having her daughters pop out on stage at the end was a nice surprise. Were they kept in a soundproof box backstage? However, it felt like the set ended prematurely, and when I looked at my watch I realized the show was barely over an hour. I was in the back balcony and it would have been nice to have been able to make out her facial expressions more easily-one tv screen of her would have been better. I mean we're not asking for her to come out on a disco ball horse or anything.

Great overall experience, wished I was smart enough to bring a regular watch so I could know what time it was once inside the phone free event. Laughed the entire show. Great set overall

Laughing continuously for hours is tiring

by k. on 2019-07-30Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Ali Wong kept the audience laughing nonstop the whole time she was on stage while interrogating established norms of gender imbalance and inequality. How many comics in the world can do that?

    Haha!

by Pooj on 2019-07-29Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

It was funny, I was hoping she would do a lot more mom jokes but it was funny and I enjoyed it. Also was hoping she would have more things to sell. The line ups to get out were ridiculous and it was poorly planned but that more the event location than her I believe.

    Ali Wong Does Fame

by M. on 2019-07-29Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

While every comedian’s gold is mined in the details of their own experience, listening to Ali Wong dust-off some old material and revel in her own new press was disheartening. As something funny, becoming rich and famous isn’t particularly relatable, and as something inspiring, we would rather see her succeed- and be good at her job- than hear about it and all the name-dropping that happens along the way. Before the show, the audience around me was grumbling, admitting they didn’t really like “Always Be My Maybe” (my question was “why’d you come then?”, and it seems they were hoping for fresh stand-up), and without realizing the practical falsehoods of Netflix success (inflated ratings and rankings on a network notorious for manipulating those figures), Ali seemed to mistakenly believe we could be entertained by “making-of” stories and Keanu-Reeves references. She had some great messages (about women and power, respect & money) and some great moments worth seeing (no spoilers!) but the joy and adrenaline was missing. This felt like a great opportunity to sell merch... This felt like work, for her, and for the audience.

    HILARITY!!! 😂

by S on 2019-07-27Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Raunchy, crude, crass, low-brow, honest to a fault, and descriptive to the point wherein I felt that she was cusping on the threshold of being deplorably offensive. THESE ARE ALL THE REASONS why we LOVE ALI WONG!!! 🍜🥟🍥🥡🥢 #meloveyoulongtime

    Mediocre

Same type of raunchy humour, seemed like a short show, annoying that you had to lock up your phone.

    A worthwhile show to watch

Thoroughly enjoyed the show from start to finish. She discusses postpartum life for a good portion of the show which may not suit everyone.
