About

With global record sales of over 75 million, Alicia Keys is one of the most successful R&B artists of all time. Her distinctive soulful vocal style and tremendous skill as a pianist have brought her monumental accolades not only in her native America, but also the rest of the world. Born in 1981, she began playing piano at the age of seven and by 11 was writing her own songs. Aged just 20, she catapulted on to the international music scene, where she has been a firm fixture ever since.

Alicia's first studio album, Songs in A Minor, was released in June 2001, debuting at the top of the Billboard charts. Lead single “Fallin'” topped the Billboard charts for six weeks, with subsequent single “A Woman's Worth” making it to the No. 3 spot. The album has since sold over 13 million copies worldwide. November 2003 saw the release of Alicia's second hotly anticipated studio album, the Diary of Alicia Keys, which was certified quadruple platinum. This was followed in 2005 by her outstanding Unplugged album, which not only reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts but sold almost 200,000 in its first week alone. A third studio album followed in 2007, with her fourth studio album, The Element of Freedom. The release of Girl on Fire in June 2013 gave her yet another chart-topping album.

Throughout her immensely successful career, Keys has won numerous awards. The release of Songs in A Minor contributed to her receiving an incredible five Grammys in 2002, for Song of the Year, Best R&B Song, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Album and Best New Artist. She repeated this success in 2008, with the album As I Am winning awards for Best R&B Song for “No One” and Best Female R&B Vocal performance. In total, Alicia Keys has won an astonishing 14 Grammys. She was also named by Billboard magazine as their R&B artist of the decade for the period 2000 - 2009.

Alicia has performed with many outstanding artists, including Usher, Christina Aguilera and Lenny Kravitz. In 2008 she teamed up with Jack White of The White Stripes to record the theme song for the film Quantum of Solace. This track, Another Way To Die, was the first duet to feature in Bond soundtrack history. She also dueted with Jay Z on the 2009 track Empire State of Mind, which reached No. 1.

    Could not ask for more

What can anyone say about Alicia Keys except that she is phenomenal. She put on an amazing show that was not bogged down by special effects and lighting, but instead showcased her vocals for the true talent that she is. She performed a good mix of her new songs along with some of the older favourites that just make you fall in love with her all over again.

    Alicia Keys was entertaining

by venosta on 2010-03-11Air Canada Centre - Toronto

I would really like to see her perform her music in a small venue because her music is, to me, not meant to be cranked up and performed loud. Having said that I doubt if that would happen because the bottom line is the dollar and she can perform to more people and make big bucks in a large venue than having to perform in a small venue for maybe 4 or 5 nights to make the same money.

Unexpected Alicia Keys Show (in a good way!!!!)

by Anonymous on 2010-03-11Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Absolutely amazing! It's definitely not what you'd expect. I thought it'd be fairly subdued, but she had a healthy mix of her and her piano and a little bit of Beyonce as well. An amazing performance for the ears and incredible visuals too!! Definitely going to see her the next time she comes to Toronto!! The only "con" I have is that it was a bit impersonal. I would have preferred more exchange with the audience other than, "How you doin, Toronto?? How you feeling tonight??"

    Alicia was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G

by tlor on 2010-03-11Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Loved everything about Alicia. Melanie Fiona was really good too! Robin Thicke was a HOT MESS-people all around me including myself were laughing hysterically at him!!!! We were embarassed for him. He is like a horrible cross between two tragically bad impersonators of Michael Buble and Justin Timberlake-I love both of those artists however, Robin Thicke looked like he was doing a Saturday night Live skit crossing over those two artists-and not well done! He was so terrible that we were laughing so hard-we were crying!!!!!! He took too much time from the 3.5 hour experience...give more time to Melanie Fiona-she was really good.

I loved the last 5 songs - when Alicia sings unplugged with her piano, she is brilliant. I felt that the first half was overproduced and not raw enough for my liking - perhaps too scripted. Her talent is unquestionable.

    Solid performance!

by number3 on 2010-03-11Air Canada Centre - Toronto

The concert was amazing. The sound of her voice was heard clearly over her band. Her stage performance and presence was solid. Her singing is absolutely amazing. She played all of her hits and fan favorite songs and songs from her latest album. Her performance was long in a good way. I didn't feel short changed. Best concert I've been to in a long time.

    Changed my Life.

by lilrush on 2010-03-11Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Alicia Keys Concert was the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed, PERIOD. Simply epic. She sang for hours, dozens of songs back to back, and maintained a consistent tone. She even took a big part in playing the music; playing a grand piano, a digital keyboard, and even taking control of a DJ console. WOW is all I have to say. If any tickets pop up in your area, purchase them immediately. I guarantee no matter what your musical interests are, Alicia will amaze you!

Despite the drunk and immature individuals, Alicia Keys was unbelievable. She really knows how to sing and put on a show. Seats may not have been the greatest, but really all I had to do was close my eyes and listen to the song. It was really great.
