I've been a fan of Andrew McMahon for about seven years. I've seen him in every incarnation at least once (Something Corporate, Jack's Mannequin, and three times as a solo artist), and his live shows continue to improve, which I didn't think was possible.
He played an excellent mix of "old" (Dark Blue, an acoustic rendition of Punk Rock Princess), and "new" (Cecilia and the Satellite, and the fantastic closer Synesthesia), and was as charming as ever. He's always so laid-back and ready to have a good time, though unfortunately there were two (unnecessary) disturbances in the crowd which he did not tolerate, resulting in people being kicked out of the show. Nevertheless, he still put on an energetic show.
The opening bands I saw, The Griswolds and New Politics, were also really good. I've seen New Politics before and they are always put on an enthusiastic show, and I'm definitely going to look up The Griswolds because they had a fun sound. I loved that Andrew came out during New Politics' set to sing "Girl Crush" with them, and that New Politics joined him onstage for "La La Lie" - it was obvious that they were all having a lot of fun on this tour.
