This was the classic concert event of the year, I absolutely loved it.

  • April Wine was amazing

This was an excellent concert. The only thing missing was the original drummer. The new guy was good but he needs to get into the music and not just play it.

  • Great Canadian Classic Rock

by Ronster on 2009-07-13Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 4 out of 5

April Wine started off by playing a lot of lesser known cuts from their earlier albums for the first half hour. Once they started playing the hits the audience hit the dance floor and stayed till the end of the concert. Highlights included "Sign of the Gypsy Queen, Oowatanite, Roller and I Like to Rock".

  • April Wine didn't play long enough.

Sounded great. Just like they did thirty years ago when I saw them last, but they only played for about an hour and a half.

I was very dissapointed with the sound in the theatre, The sound was so distorted that it was almost unbearable to sit and listen to the show. I had seen April Wine a few times over the last 30 years and can't believe the poor concert quality this time. I've been to see AC/DC and it was loud but it was clear and the sound was awesome. As for the band, I was very disapointed that they didn't play the hit songs from the 70's,80's that I enjoyed listening to,such as, "You won't dance with me", and songs from Electric Jewels and Stand Back albums. I saw the Electric Jewels, Stand Back, and the Whole Worlds going Crazy tour Concerts and loved this band for years.Maybe my expectations were too high but the sound in the Red Robinson Show Theatre having such distorted sound and not getting to hear favorite songs made it very dissapointing.

My wife and I went to hear the songs that we grew up with. They did not play any ballads.Yeah, it was great to hear that they could still play hard rock and roll, but what about the songs that made them famous?

  • April Wine was Hot

by Chooch on 2009-07-12Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 4 out of 5

First time at the Red Robinson. Great venue, awesome sightlines and sound. April Wine were in fine form. Unfortunately they did not have a keyboard so many of their ballads were overlooked. My only disappointment. Would have liked to have seen the lineup with Jerry Mercer behind the "kit" but at 70 I suppose you can cut him some slack. Overall I was glad I went and definitely will be back at the "RED".

  • Solid show, great venue

April Wine... what more can I say? They still sound great. Enjoyed the Red Robinson Theatre - perfect for this show.

First 15-20 minutes they played music "no-body" knew......when they FINALLY started the tunes everyone knew they were awesome. Then all of a sudden it was over....and encore time all ready. Lead singer seemed like he didn't even want to be there. But I guess he has always had an attitude even in his younger days. Shame really. Went to Trooper in March and they rocked from beginning to end and that was why I was so excited (& paid more for the ticket) for April Wine.

  • April Wine is like a good wine- better with age!

by DartmouthGirl on 2009-07-12Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 4 out of 5

As Maritimers we are proud of the longevity of the band- missed the drummer but the tunes were well done and took us back to high school dances, grads and weddings. April Wine's play list never gets old and the crowd may be a little greyer than the early days we would watch these fellas perform but everyone obviously enjoyed the music and the memories these songs bring back for our peer group. Fabulous!

I enjoyed the concert. "Roller" was great as was "I Wanna Rock" and "Say Hello". I was disappointed that they didn't do as many balads. There are just so many great tunes they didn't cover, because the concert was limited to guitars, bass and drums. It was too bad. Also, a few acoustic numbers would've been nice.

  • April Wine could've been a little better

  • April Wine.....not too much to remember

I was sure unhappy with the show that April Wine put on In May 2009, at the Red Robinson Theatre!!! At the beginning of the show it was announced that they did not bring a piece of equipment with them (a key board, I think). I don't know if it was due to the missing piece or what, but they did not play too many of their "Old Hits". Because of this, I would not rate the show too high The show was also fairly short....maybe a good thing, since they were not playing any of thier big hits. I guess they just plain ran out of music to play. A year earlier I had seen them at the Acts Theatre in Maple Ridge and there too I was disapointed, as the lead singer had throat issues die to a cold. That could not be avoided, I understand. So I was really hoping for a great show in Coquitlam. I was put down by April Wine once again!!! The show in Coquitlam really did tell us all why April Wine did not make it as far as most bands! One question....."Why would one not bring all their equipment with them?"

  • Great concert

These guys are still terrific in their sixties. I think they still sound incredible and the crowd is right into the tunes and the high energy. Lots were up dancing. My only regret was they played a number of songs the crowd didn't know and didn't play a number of their really big older hits.
