ARCHITECTS IN CONCERT:

Over the past decade, British metalcore outfit Architects has steadily risen through the ranks to become one of the genre's most potent and revered forces. The band's socially conscious message and blistering sound come together perfectly at their live shows, where the face-melting screams and growls of frontman Sam Carter drive home pointed lyrics about the perils of religious extremism, global warming, and oceanic collapse. Ticket buyers can't help but rock out as the band thrashes through heavy-hitting anthems like "These Colours Don't Run" and "Gravedigger", making for an adrenaline-filled concert experience that does fitting justice to the band's aggressive sound.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Architects was formed in Brighton, UK in 2004 by guitarist Tom Searle and his twin brother, drummer Dan. They brought on vocalist Matt Johnson, guitarist Tim Hiller-Brook, and bassist Tim Lucas, and in 2006 they released their debut album Nightmare. Johnson left the band shortly after the album's release, and Sam Carter -- the band's current frontman -- quickly stepped in to fill his shoes. Architects lost no time with Carter, whose personal approach to songwriting marked a new direction for the band, and in 2007 they released their sophomore album Ruin. That record led to the band's first US tour, and their high-octane performances on the road helped earn them a substantial stateside fanbase. In 2008 Architects signed to Century Media Records, and in 2009 they made their debut on the label with their third album Hollow Crown. That album marked their first appearance on the UK Albums Chart -- a feat they would repeat with their next three albums, including 2014's Lost Forever // Lost Together, which peaked at No. 16. A bone-shattering live act known for their heavy sound and Carter's melodic roar, Architects continues to deliver sweltering performances on tour.

This was definitely one of the better shows I've been to I've my 45 years on the earth. All bands were fantastic and the venue was great too. The only issue we had was getting out after the show. They need to open the emergency exit doors and let people out, and the parking lots need to be fully opened up too. Other than that, Architects were amazing as were Erra and Holywatr.

Had a great time at the show! Was part of the crowd that got to hear Curse played live for the very first time. Sam even wore a Maple Leafs jersey towards the end of the set!

  • Amazing show

All of the bands were amazing in their own way. BUT As She Sleeps really stole the show! I heard their tunes prior to the show and knew they were going to be great, but their performance and crowd interaction had the place literally jumping. The lead singer crowd surfing while singing!! I haven’t had such an experience from an opening act since seeing The Used open for three days grace. Architects stage show was exactly what you would want from a headliner - lights, sound and engagement were great. Of mice and men gave true to recording presentations of their songs which was great!

  • Hot and cramped

by Chris on 2024-05-06MTELUS - MontrealRating: 2 out of 5

Mtelus didn't bother having the climate control turned on so we were sweating bullets standing at the back. The room was more densely populated than any sold out show I had attended there before leading me to believe it was oversold or way too many guest passes were issued. Architects and While She Sleeps were amazing. Of mice and men were awful.

  • INSANE!!

The show was insane and while she sleeps was even better live.

  • Anyone who says they've sold out...

by Solus on 2024-05-06REBEL - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Ok, if you guys honestly believe Architects has "sold out"you've obviously never seen them live; especially not recently. This show was the tour opener and it did not disappoint. In fact, it far exceeded my expectations. The production was top notch, the setlist was superb, and Sam's vocals absolutely brutalized the show. Please stop hating on this band if you won't even bother to go see them in concert, because this was the HEAVIEST show I've ever attended. I brought my 66 year old father with me, who went to metal shows in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. He's gone to nu-metal and deathcore shows with me in the past, and even he agrees that this is the HEAVIEST show even he has ever attended. So before you call people "sellouts"Or "posers", actually go see them first. Dream come true to have been there for that moment in time. A night I'll never forget. T.S. Forever. <3

  • A dream concert

by Itsthenoble on 2024-05-06REBEL - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Went in with huge love for architect and while she sleeps. Loved both of them and just learning about of mice and men and now I'm a big. All 3 bands put on a hell of a show and I can't wait for them to come back and do it again

  • Another great show on the books

by Zoey on 2024-05-05REBEL - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Amazing show, while she sleeps and of mice and men’s performances were awesome, their sounds were equalized nicely. Architects visuals were super cool, but the sound of the voice vs instruments wasn’t equalized as nicely. Hard to hear singer in comparison to everything else. Venue opened the doors 40 minutes late which was a little annoying. Drinks are always over priced, hot dogs at the end of the night at $10 each, obviously over priced again. Parking has also changed at the Rebel venue and it really bottle necked things up. Also confusing when at 4:30pm the parking lot still wasn’t ready for people to use when the doors are suppose to open at 6… long line of cars waiting to get into parking lot. (Surprise, over priced also, $30) as well as never liked Rebel for not being allowed in and out of the venue. Other venues in Toronto like Danforth let you leave bring merch to your car and come back in.
