About Aries Spears
One of the most versatile and unbridled performers in the world of comedy, Aries Spears has been killing it in front of audiences ever since he began performing at clubs at the age of 14. Born in Chicago and raised in New Jersey, Spears has proven himself again and again both onstage as a stand-up and sketch comedian and in his many appearances in TV and films.
Audiences know him best from his eight seasons on MAD TV. Joining for the TV comedy institution's third season in 1997, he became the series' second-longest serving cast member as well as one of its most consistently hilarious thanks to his many recurring characters and impressions of Michael Jackson, Kanye West, Eddie Murphy, Shaquille O'Neal and many more. In 2006, Damon Wayans picked Spears to be one of the cast members in his Showtime sketch comedy series The Underground. Spears' other TV and film appearances include Malcolm X, Jerry Maguire and CSI Miami.
His debut comedy album, Aries Spears: I Ain't Scared was released in 2005. In 2011, Showtime presented his stand-up special Aries Spears: Hollywood, Look I'm Smiling. He followed up with 2016's Aries Spears: Comedy Blueprint, another showcase of his fearless brand of no-holds-barred comedy.
Aries Spears Background
A natural cutup with family and friends growing up in Chicago and New Jersey, Aries Spears began performing his jokes and impressions in New York and New Jersey while still a teenager. The young comedian was soon making appearances on such TV shows as Def Comedy Jam and It's Showtime at the Apollo. After moving to Los Angeles, he continued to develop the acting career that began with a part in Spike Lee's Malcolm X in 1992. Meanwhile, he honed his stand-up skills at such legendary clubs as the Comedy Store, the Laugh Factory and the Improv.
In 1997, he became part of the cast for the Fox sketch comedy series MAD TV, where his original characters and impressions of such celebrities as Kanye West, Snoop Dogg and Eddie Murphy made him a fan favorite during his eight-season run. Spears' later film and TV credits include Damon Wayans' sketch series The Underground, Jiminy Glick in Lalawood and CSI Miami.
Spears displayed his onstage prowess as a stand-up on numerous national tours as well as the 2005 comedy album Aries Spears: I Ain't Scared and two TV specials: Aries Spears: Hollywood, Look I'm Smiling (2011) and Aries Spears: Comedy Blueprint (2016). In 2020, he was part of the ensemble of iconic comedians featured on Def Comedy Jam's Healing Through Laughter, a livestream benefit hosted by Cedric the Entertainer.
It was a great night! Atmosphere, staff & sound was great. One of the best comedy shows I every went to.
Show started late however Aries did a little more than an hour so that was nice of him. And it was exactly as expected. Hilarious. Glad he comes out to Canada now because I been waiting to see him.
Aries came with the non stop, no holds barred old school comedy! Along with his quick wit and crowd work he is still one of the best in the game. I got to meet him in the lobby after the show and picked up a shirt from him. Really down to earth dude. I'll definitely go watch him anytime I can.
It’s the best comedy show I ever been to and I’ve been to ALOT of shows with a big range of different comedians Amazing show Aries and his opening act pad cast partner
Before I even step foot into the Olympia venue, I see Aries with his signature NY Yankees cap on walking in the front door literally a couple of feet away from where I was waiting in line with my brothers. Once inside, I saw Aries again casually chilling by himself earphones on just bopping his head to music he was obviously listening to. We do make eye contact eventually and he acknowledges me with a head nod. 👌🏼👌🏼 The show was 🔥🔥, Aries's delivery was on point. He worked the crowd well throughout the evening and had them in laughs the whole time. He did not hold back from beginning to end, he engaged a few people in the crowd during the evening and roasted them to a crisp. For the quality of comedian and the price of admission, this stand-up show was one of the best I've seen. Left the venue definitely wanting more! Good job Aries!
From the opener to Aries, the show was absolutely stellar.
Aries was spectacular! This was not a PC show so if you get offended easily don't go see him!
A refreshing modern comic who spears every sacred cow in the book from sexy black women to gay white men and everything in between. Well worth the ticket price but not for the faint hearted or politically correct!
Aries spears is a living comedy relic. His jokes and everything were absolutely hilarious and if you're lucky to see him at this time of age in comedy, do it now. Aries was so funny from the moment he opened his mouth to the very end. I would go to his show again for sure in a heartbeat. His jokes are hardcore funny and aren't for people who are too sensitive. He doesn't hold back and will go to the depths to make sure each one of his audience members is dying laughing. He is MUCH better in person than his you tube clips and shorts. I recommend seeing him to anyone of my friends and family.
My husband took me for my birthday. I had an amazing time. I’ve loved Aries since MadTV & he did not disappoint. Laughed from beginning to end. The show opener, I think his name was Andy was very good as well. Thoroughly enjoyed it! -Erica!
