About

For over two decades, Atmosphere has maintained a course of rigorous output, releasing over two dozen studio albums, EP's and collaborative side projects in as many years. In that time, the venerated duo have built a legacy out of bringing honesty, humility and vulnerability to the forefront of their music, continually challenging themselves to evolve without straying too far from their roots. Slug has proven masterful at storytelling and writing compelling narratives, leaving a trail of his own influence while paying homage to the rappers and songwriters that helped shape him. Ant has skillfully molded the soundtracks with inspiration from soul, funk, rock, reggae, and the wizardry of hip-hop's pioneering DJ's and producers, creating his own trademark sounds while providing the pulse for songs about life, love, stress and setbacks. At its essence, Atmosphere has been a musical shepherd, and with each new album comes a new journey as they guide generations of listeners through this thing called life.

by Arson on 2023-11-13Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

It was my third time seeing atmosphere at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. He always puts on a great performance and this time it was an epic show which started out with me getting to fist bump slug himself while inline to get in the doors.

It was amazing, solid sound system, and venue. Annoying wait time for him to come on but otherwise fantastic

  • God loves ugly.

Been a fan for 12+ years and this was my second time seeing Atmosphere at the commodore and they did not disappoint. They played all the classics and some new stuff. They really know how to work the crowd. Definitely will be going again!

  • The openers sucked the life out of this show

by Vandee on 2023-11-10Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5

Let me start by saying Atmosphere was fantastic ! No complaints there . The openers however ...almost ruined this show. The common age for this show is 25-40 as these were the ages who grey up with Atmosphere. So when you have group of 9 young long running around chaotically on stage it's alot to take in. They weren't horrible but it was just ...alot in your face. Hebl....I don't even know where to start but this was a level of torture I've never experienced. His music (?) Felt like when you try to run in a dream. A combination of hard trans elevator/ hold music and nonsensical noises on loop. There was no drops, hooks or anything just sounds on a loop. Majority of the crowed in my second were yawing and struggling to stay awake after both the openers but we're trying our best to rally. I loved atmosphere , I wish they played Glass house but you can't get them all. Hearing puppets was incredible and should've known.

  • Great show!

by Russelle on 2020-01-20The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The show was great! Atmosphere (Slug and Ant) always put on a good show. Given that the venue has been around since 1919 it really needed some improvements, the venue has so much potential. Great show though...

  • Masters of Their Craft

by somerandomdude on 2020-01-20The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Atmosphere are AMAZING live! I couldn't believe how great they sounded. Ant is a brilliant producer and DJ, and MC Slug did not miss a beat! His rhymes were tight and his flow was flawless. These guys have been making music together for close to 25 years and their experience shines through on stage. Do not pass on an opportunity to see Atmosphere. They are about as good as it gets when it comes to a live hip-hop act.
