Barely Alive on Tour

Blending fast-paced and heavy sounds with an '80s synthwave atmosphere, Los Angeles-based duo Barely Alive has been sending listeners on a high-energy, head-banging journey for nearly a decade. Originally from Massachusetts, Willie Watkins and Matthew Meier began collaborating on music in 2013 and broke into the growing dubstep scene. While on tour, Barely Alive performs onstage as a single anthropomorphic entity, which is their signature angry logo. With stages donning LED boards, lasers and pyrotechnics, fans are able to experience a loud and visually stimulating concert experience. The group's 2023 tour takes them to dozens of cities in North America. Barely Alive have also previously been supporting other bands or headlining on their own tours across Australia, South America, Asia, and Europe. Their first EP, 2014's Lost in the Internet, was their first release on Disciple Records and was a huge success, hitting the No. 1 spot on Beatport across four separate genres and establishing the duo's signature upbeat and bass-heavy style. Later that year, they released Internet Streets (2014), followed by Fiber Optic (2015), Rivals (2015) and Domain (2017). Also in 2017, the duo released their mega popular collaboration "Send It," produced with 12th Planet and PhaseOne. The hit song was consistently on the playlist of dubstep shows across the country.

Since 2017, the duo has garnered much respect within the bass music scene, having also released music on record labels such as Skrillex's Owsla, Diplo's Mad Decent, Never Say Die, and Monstercat. Barely Alive has released two full-length albums: We Are Barely Alive (2015) and Odyssey (2018). These albums achieved critical acclaim and incited remixes from large bass music artists Getter, FuntCase and Virtual Riot. Additional EPs released by Watkins and Meier include Lost In Time (2018), Multiplayer (2019), Head To Head Vol. 1 (2020), and Head to Head Vol. 2 (2021). The two have also remixed songs from EDM staples such as DJ Snake, Excision, Zomboy, and Eptic. While releasing music, the duo also releases content that is made to benefit other artists. The duo released three sample packs of sounds that have topped the charts on Splice, while also consistently releasing production tutorial videos on YouTube as well. Their instantly recognizable costume has been seen on festival stages all over the world, including Lost Lands, EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowland, Rampage, and Coachella. Some of these large festival sets have been uploaded to YouTube, with their Lost Lands 2017 and 2021 sets alone reaching hundreds of thousands of views. Barely Alive maintains more than 450,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, amassing more than 15 million streams across all their tracks.
