Boring
by J. Co on 2023-08-08The guitarist for Big Thief was terrible. Messing around with his amps and pedals. So unprofessional. His "style"of play is not good and he was completely distracting. Lucinda was fantastic. Of course she's 100% pro

Big Thief on Tour
Big Thief, the group known for uniquely soft and vulnerable folk-rock, hit the road for their 2022 tour celebrating the release of their latest album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You. With a style that draws comparisons to Phoebe Bridgers, Stevie Nicks, alt-J, and Fleet Foxes, the group is best known for the hit single "Paul," a phenomenally composed and equally sad song about an estranged lover trying to get back into your life. The song quickly amassed more than 55 million streams on Spotify and catapulted the group's 2016 debut album, Masterpiece, into underground fame in the indie community, leading to stops at South by Southwest and a live performance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers." The group followed up their debut a year later with Capacity, which peaked at No. 15 on Billboard's Americana/Folk Albums chart. Fans praise Big Thieff's live acoustics, calling the performance "absolutely fantastic" and "one of the best shows I've ever been to." Tickets are selling fast, so get yours to see Big Thief today.
Big Thief Live in Concert
Assembled in 2015 in the borough of Brooklyn by Adrianne Lenker and Buck Meek, Big Thief is a four-piece folk-rock band that also features Max Oleartchik and James Krivchenia. The group has released five studio albums in six years, charting in nine different countries, including reaching No. 1 on Billboard's Americana/Folk Albums chart for their 2022 release, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You. The album also hit the Top 40 on the Billboard 200. Lenker is originally a native of Minnesota who learned music at an early age from her father. At age 12, she knew she wanted to pursue music as a passion and career. She attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and met Meek, a fellow alumnus, and the two kindred spirits formed a powerful relationship both on and off stage. The two wed and divorced shortly after, but still remain bandmates and self-described "deep friends."

I went primarily to see Lucinda Williams with Big Thief as a bonus. I'm acquainted with Big Thief and know some of their songs, but I'm not an ardent fan like most of the audience. Adrianne is obviously a big talent — unique singer, good songwriter and inventive guitar player. However, the sound quality was poor and the band didn't seem to get their sound to their liking until well into the set. The last few songs were better than the first half of the concert. The informal approach to the performance was charming to a degree, but left me thinking I didn't get their best. Usually, the live performance is better than the records, but, in this case, the live performance was not nearly as good as the recordings. Disappointing.
Sound was great. Stage seemed to swallow the band. The chandelier sporadically / erratically kept turning on and off throughout every song which was super distracting and took away from the performers because it was the same lights that turn on when the show ends. I heard multiple people in my section commenting about it.
Amazing theatre and sound. Adrianne Lenker is captivating.
Lucinda Williams is a hard act to follow, and it showed for Big Thief as they were still awestruck and forgot a song on intro. But once they settled in, I immediately knew I was hearing real musicians and was riveted to my seat for an incredible performance. See Big Thief immediately!
How on earth This band was a headliner over Lucinda Williams I'll never know!
Lucinda Williams the headliner was great..Big Thief not so..can’t figure out what their theme is but it didn’t play well..
Lucinda Williams was amazing! Big Thief seemed disinterested. Big Thief should have opened and Lucinda should have headlined.

The band was incredible! The venue did what it could but it was still disappointing to see so many people without masks, despite the band's request (and the law). So sadly, it felt a bit unsafe.
