    BVJ 2013

by littlemomma10 on 2013-08-08Camrose Exhibition Centre - Camrose

Over all good - was however disappointed in the sound. In the beer gardens there was no speakers this year - with all the people talking, screaming - you could not hear the performers. The sound was also going in and out when in front of the stage. Hopefully this will be resolved for next year.

Awesome weekend for Country music fans

by hotkiss92 on 2013-08-08Camrose Exhibition Centre - Camrose

BVJ was a lot of fun; there were great artists, tons of vendors, fun camping areas, and lots to do. The beer gardens are at the very back of the concert bowl, so you can't see the stage at all, but you can hear the concerts and you can watch the band on the screen that is in the beer gardens themselves. There was one concert specifically (Luke Bryan on Saturday August 3rd) where the sound was awful for at least 6 songs in the beer gardens, no one could hear anything. The screen was still functioning, but the sound system stopped working. Eventually it was up and running.

    BVJ 2013 Rocked!!!

by CuteButDozy on 2013-08-07Camrose Exhibition Centre - Camrose

This year was so much fun! Especially enjoyed the mix of genres played thru the sets. Kept it fresh and exciting. I hope we have more country/rock/pop blends played next year.

It was our first time at BVJ and it was amazing - great crowd and great bands, everything seemed to be in place behind the scenes to help everything run smoothly ... we are definitely coming back next year!

Went Friday mostly because of the line-up of artists who did not disappoint. Roseane Cash and Alan Jackson were excellent. Great bus service from Camrose. New ground surface helped for viewing. Lots of security. Same trade show vendors. Not much for healthy food choices. A great day out.

BVJ: Lot's of beer with some music thrown in

by KDoggCanada on 2012-08-12Camrose Exhibition Centre - Camrose

Big Valley is just one great big party. We camped in general camping. Be prepared for thousands of bikini clad young ladies and shirtless jocks running around. When it rains it gets pretty disgusting. That being said, if you have a trailer it is relatively painless. And if you're up for a party then you will find it. As for the concert, the bowl is quite large and the beer gardens are at the back. So it is a toss-up between beer or music. We chose beer and enjoyed the music from afar. Our friends purchased tickets with reserved seating. They said they wouldn't do it again as a big part of the experience is to be up and partying.

This is a great event with top notch performers. A lot of effort is put into this to make a first class event and it shows.

    Line up was great!

by Rubydoo on 2012-08-11Camrose Exhibition Centre - Camrose

The line up was great - was disappointed that they said camping was sold out - but many lots were empty? Blake Shelton was fantastic! Unfortunately, when the downpour happened our kids got soaked and therefore we did miss much of Toby Keith's performance. Had my husband and myself been without kids we probably would have toughed out the rain and stayed. This was a little disappointing because it was because of Toby Keith that we decided to attend this event. Rascall Flatts and Dwight Yoakam were also great highlights.

    First and last time

by BirdyB on 2012-08-08Camrose Exhibition Centre - Camrose

We found that the crowd showed little interest in the opening acts. As a first timer to this event, we felt sorry for the artists because they were trying so hard to be entertaining without much positive feedback. The "Jumbotron" was a joke. A sheet on the wall would have been just as effective! The artists looked like ants on the stage and we were counting on being able to see them on a large screen. This was definitely not the case and I somehow suspect that the event generates enough money to afford a large screen or two. This was a major disappointment and we decided to leave after Emerson Drive finished their set. We were very much looking forward to seeing Blake Shelton but decided we'd get more out of watching his videos on tv. The crowd seemed more interested in partying and we got the impression that it wouldn't have mattered if they were listening to live entertainment or a video. When we weren't allowed back in the event with our slurpees because, heaven forbid, we might have added a few drops of liquor to them, that was the last straw. Considering that there were 'saloons' and no one checking handbags and backpacks, it seemed more than just a little ridiculous. All of this for the sake of 'crowd control'. Give me a break!! Did anyone ever consider the possibility of weapons getting past security? That scares me a lot more than someone sneaking in a pop laced with liquor. And speaking of security....there was a definite lack of it. I would have expected the grounds to be way better patrolled by police. I chalked it up to just one big free-for-all....not at all about the music but rather just a big, expensive excuse to party,.

    BVJ Always A Blast!

by jmhntr on 2012-08-07Camrose Exhibition Centre - Camrose

Well, definitely good and bad... Let's start with the good; -Blake Shelton was amazing as always of course -Rascal Flatts was MUCH better than I ever thought they would be, don't get me wrong, i'm a huge fan, but they were so amazing that it was ridiculous!! -Most people are so friendly and out to just have as much fun as you are, and its so great to meet new friends who have all the same interests as yourself -Nitty Gritty Dirt band was really good as well.. although i think they appealed more to the older crowd... -The PEROGIES AND SAUSAGE STAND.... delicious.. -BVJ is ALWAYS a good time! Bad: -Toby Keith ditched last year, (we didn't get any money back OR any sort of discount on this years tickets either...) so you bring him back to what was supposed to be the 20th anniversary? He was over an HOUR late, if he wasn't we wouldn't have had to stand in the downpour.. not only that but he was in Alberta, Canada.. and played his "American Pride" songs first... not a good way to win over a western Canada crowd.. I mean at least he came on after the rain, but he was really good at changing the tune and mixing up the verses of his own songs, making it very hard to sing to let alone enjoy.. I LOVE toby songs, but he really let me down.. especially after having so much to make up for after last year. -The move out for all the campers and vehicles was very, very slow... it took me an hour and half to even get out of my camping lane... should think about a better way to move people out... (have move out times for specific lots?) -Out houses were always out of toilet paper.. kind of hard to avoid.. i suggest bringing your own... BUT.. the crews did an AMAZING job at keeping them clean.

It was awesome. Never seen anything like the general camping, what a party. The music was all wicked and the only thing that I wish would have been different was that it rained and we missed Toby Keith. Other than that, amazing. Going again next year.

    Blake Shelton was amazing

by Nessa1986 on 2012-08-07Camrose Exhibition Centre - Camrose

All of the headliners for the weekend were aboslutely amazing. I loved the fact that we could still hear the earlier concerts even from our tent. But we definitely went to the 9:00pm shows. One thing that really needs to be changed is the exiting of all the campers and trailers on the last day. There needs to be some sort of management in each section as for allowing one car from each section through at a time. There was a massive pile up of cars at the begining and no one from the later sections could move!! There also needs to be cops patrolling the highway and 2 way stop to allow traffic to get out of the grounds. There is always so much traffic from the highway that the traffic from the grounds get congested and we wait for hours to get out. It would help if a patrol officer could be there for the morning and stop the highway traffic to keep a good and controlled flow out of the grounds. THIS IS NEEDED NOT RECOMMENDED. Good job on the cleanliness of the portor potties, But there need to be more toliet paper. They should add some more roll holders.
