this was a great preformance from start to finish...had us crying and laughing... what a talented cast including the children...
Unfortunately there were too many noticeable stage mishaps in the Thursday production that it effected our enjoyment.
The acting, the music, the dancing, the back drops, the atmosphere, I was so totally engrossed in the whole thing, I was amazed! I thoroughly enjoyed the show, start to finish! I was up in the high seats yet the experience was truly enjoyable and unforgettable!
Billy Elliot was good - the performances were excellent - however 2 things made it good and not great - first the absolute highlight of the show is when Billy "flys" - unfortunately due to some glitch with the harness that did not happen - very disappointing - and having the performers come out at the end of the show and solicit donations for a charity was not a good idea - better to have had them prior or during intermission mingling with the crowd - it seemed a bit crass to expect donations from the audience.
Billy Eliot was highly enjoyable, the cast was unbelievable especially the incredible talent of the kids! I really enjoyed the show and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a fun evening out which can be enjoyed by the whole family!
Couldn't believe the talent of the children - wonderful dancers/singers and actors. Enjoyed the humour and also the poignant parts.
This was the first play we have attended, so i was pleasently surprised how good it was, and my wife thought it was amazing other than missing some because of seats.
one of my top 3 musical. really enjoyed it. thank you!
I thoroughly enjoyed Billy Elliot. The dancing was marvellous and the singing delightful.
We drove through terrible winter road conditions to attend this performance. Had it been available closer to home I'm certain that my overall impression would have been better. I shouldn't have tried to compare this production against a movie but I think this overshadowed my expectations. The cast was very good and the lead performers extremely talented. However, the strong accents, considerable swearing and simplistic stage design just didn't make this a memorable event for me. As much as I am a big supporter of live theatre and often attend a show more than once to make sure I took in everything, this is one I won't be looking for tickets for a second time around. An avid follower of Elton John I can't say that the music was overly memorable either. However, I completely understand how we would have been captivated by the story. I'm going to have to put this down as a story that didn't quite translate from movie to stage production for me. Though it was an interesting social commentary (on multiple levels) it just didn't hit the mark for the three of us who attended. However, I'm definitely going to rent the movie again so that I can make a closer comparison.
I really wanted to see this play since seeing the advertisement for it on Broadway. Ben Cook and the other actors were all excellent but somehow the portrayal of the story left me a little disappointed. In addition, the sound mix in the Jube meant we had missed some of the actors lines and yet the orchestra was very loud.Don't get me wrong, the 4 of us really enjoyed the play, it just won't be one of our all time favourites.
The 1st time i watched billy eliot was in London at the Victoria palace theatre. My only complaint is that this production compared to London, is not as excellent the Jubilee Auditorium is a bit small for the set the actors were great, but the dialect seemed contrived I watched the Matinee show with my children, and the audience was a bit of a damper Still one of the most amazing plays written, and I am a grown man who cried a few times the music alone is earth moving
Loved the music and dance! Better than I had expected!
The musical was witty and entertaining. I didn't think it would be as funny as it was. The actors were great and i would definitely recommend others to see the show! On a different note, I thought it was a bit of a buzz kill for them to ask for donations after the show. I would have been open to the request for donations before the evening began perhaps...??
A wonderfully heartwarming production. Mitchell Tobin (Billy) was a wonderful dancer.
I enjoyed it with some reservations. I like to leave a musical singing the songs I just heard. This musical is not that kind. I don't remember any of the music from the show. It was a long show but didn't feel long, that is a good thing. The lead child was amazing and there were other good performers as well. I have seen other musicals I liked much better, Wicked is one of them.
Very disappointed. Attracted to this because of Elton John's involvement but found music to be very uninspiring and forgettable. Also, personally I'm tired of the perpetual association or implication of guys who like dance or are creative being gay. Hated the money grab at the end of the performance. Very unusual and very tacky.
Great musical with appropriate comedy had the audience laughing a lot. Would definitely recommend to others and would certainly see it again. The cast was powerful and allowed us the opportunity to be a part of the miners plight and disappointment. Well done!!
Amazing performance. Very talented performers. Incredible dancing and singing!!!
