    Long Ending

by LucielleBall on 2013-04-08Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Great music. Great Dancing. The children are so very talented. Too many scenes with chairs and dancing. Took a long time to end. I was waiting for the adult Billy Elliot to appear as the Black swan as he does in the movie but this did not happen.

    Billy Elliot

by SleeperS60 on 2013-04-08Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Started a bit slow but momentum built. Actors were excellent especially the young ones. Sound left a bit to be desired, much of the dialogue was hard to follow. Sound seemed to be muffled. Otherwise, really enjoyable, good family entertainment and emotional roller coaster.

Enjoyed the show but the storyline lacked some details re Billy's passion for ballet. I saw this show in London in 2012 and the interaction between Billy & his friend was much better performed. The sound was also lacking - not loud enough in some instances. I had the feeling that the Queen Elizabeth was a bit too large for this type of production and would have had a better effect in a smaller venue.

This show should be part of everyone's Theatrical Education! It was EXCELLENT! It is amazing to think that there are so many talented young boys who have played the title role over the years. A MUST!

The performance left me with a really good feeling for an old Brit who knew the coal troubles. The sound was horrible-despite being from the N of England I couldn't pick up lots of words-especially at the beginning

    Billy Elliot is very entertaining.

Ben Cook is a very talented young man. Excellent cast, music and dancing. I was going to have to change my tickets because of a health issue with my 98 year old Mother. I have never had such a run around. Fortunately the day of her surgery was changed so my original tickets were good.

    Too glitzy

by californiadreamin on 2013-04-06Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Saw Billy Elliott in London, and it was a much cleaner production, with the story coming through more strongly. This production has too many crowded "dance" scenes with all the characters leaping about, and it's a miracle they don't just crash into each other. Those scenes weren't well choreographed and didn't advance the story or add to the dance elements. I think they wrecked that wonderful "Angry Dance" by putting all the cops and strikers all over the stage. It was a great solo in London, and much more emotionally effective. In short...they've over "broadwayed" it.

the sets, music & dancing were fantastic! I only have one critisizm & that is that the cast had a very, very heavy acsent & was extremely difficult to understand. Because I knew the storyline, it helped me. will have to forgo seeing another production with this dialogue.

    Billy Elliot fab

by zoomers on 2013-04-05Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

a brilliant show, great entertainment and well performed, suitable for all ages, so glad we could get tickets. However very disappointed that the upper balcony was empty and ticketmaster showing no tickets available, even I had to go to ticketmaster Prince George to obtain tickets. If there are tickets available for these shows they should be offered to high schools at a reduced cost as they are the next generation of theatre goers and need to have exposure to it in order to become a fan, like we did from our schools and parents.

    Billy Elliot

by Nursemaid on 2013-04-04Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Excellent. The boy who played Billy Elliot on opening night was incredible - so talented. The first act was the best for fun the second a little sad and dark. The encore was great. The grandmother was very funny and the piano man was a "surprise"

    Billy Elliot

by magi on 2013-04-04Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver , BC

Billy Elliot was quite good although one cannot compare it to the likes of Cats or Showboat, which are big established shows that have been around for much longer. No flamboyant sets and costumes here. Billy Elliot is a young and fresh musical. The singing and dancing was good and the characters were from all walks of life and all ages. Tall, thin, short, stout, bald etc. Just like ordinary people - perfect typecast for the characters of the poor coal mine towns of northern England. The second half plot was not as good as the first, the finale was excellent. Music was good, composed by Elton John with a small orchestra. The music could have been a bit louder. I enjoyed the British humour and accents. Two thumbs up.

    Elliot's Excellent

by Dodg on 2013-04-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

My wife and I were blown away by the latest Broadway Across Canada production of Billy Elliot. What a way for those of us living miles away from NYC to see a "Broadway" like production in a first class facility. We booked tickets last minute and lucked out finding main floor seats. Only problem is the "obstructed view" created by a large person sitting in front of us. Ducking and a swerving around him was a pain and of course out of the control of the Jube. We were also glad to be able to catch a Saturday matinee. Having this option gave us time to travel to Calgary, see the show, go out for dinner after the show and be home by 9:00pm. Now for the production. The cast's acting, singind and dancing thoroughly impressed us, engaging our imaginations, believing we were actually there in northern England. I actually believed that these actors would speak with their finely tuned accents. The young Billy was amazing. He had us hooked from the start, pulling for him, wanting him to succeed and escape this dying way of life. The cast of youngsters were awesome. Great show. We will want to see future productions. We were thankful for the information about this part of British history that was posted in the foyer. The information helped us understand the significance of the production's story.

    Billy Elliott was very good

by bkworm on 2013-04-04Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Only problem was accent, Mitchell had a really good accent but his dancing teacher did not so it would have made more sense for her to speak in her native American. Sometimes it was quite difficult to understand what was being said but that could have been the Jubilee Theatre.

    BILLY ELLIOTT WAS PHENOMENAL!!!

by JACKSON350 on 2013-04-04Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

We were absolutely impressed with this show, the amazing talent of the entire cast and the intrinsic stage changes that occured during the production without jeopardizing the action occuring on the stage. We were completely entertained and loved it from beginning to end.

This was an amazing musical. I took my 9 year old daughter and both of us loved it! She wants to see it again before they leave. We loved all the kids and they were so talented especially Drew as Billy Elliot.
